I made a face when I heard this, but of course, I'd be hung if I retaliated. So would she, and I had a feeling she knew it, and that was why she wasn't fighting back. "Well, I killed the wolf thing, so you don't have to worry about it. Can't say the same about the daggers."

I grinned. "Still. But they decided I was too dangerous or something to stay at their fancy-ass school, so parents sent me to a boarding school," I told her with a shrug.

I nodded in thanks and knocked on the governor's bedroom door, waiting for him to answer. When he didn't, I knocked again and shouted, "Would you open the goddamn door?"
He opened the door and glared at me. "Nice to see you, too," I commented. "Shall we get going?"
Without another word, he pushed past me and headed for the door. "Jackass," I said under my breath before following him out and wondering where the fuck Harlow was.
