I sighed. Better safe than sorry, right? "Fine, fine...but the papers I'll have to sign...won't they know who her legal parents are? I can't put my mother's name down."

[Callie]

Rayne

"Why's your mom her legal parent in the first place?" I asked, arching an eyebrow at her, then sighing softly. "Well, you could put your name down, and if they don't believe you, then they can do a blood test or something, right?"

Eileen
"No, I mean...my mother isn't her legal parent, but I can't write down my mother's name when it isn't true. I...nobody is supposed to know I'm her mother. It's a small town, and if anybody finds out...my reputation here will be ruined, just like it was at my old home," I said softly. "I don't want to have to leave."

[Callie]

Rayne

"Well... hospitals are sworn to secrecy, aren't they? And you're still at least her caretaker, if you don't want them to know you're actually her mom..."

Eileen
"I guess so..." I said fretfully. "When she wakes up I'll take her."

[Callie]

Rayne

I nodded a bit. "Want me to go with you?"

Eileen
"Sure, if you don't mind," I said, nodding.

[Callie]

Rayne

"Not at all," I answered, shaking my head.

Eileen
I heard Bree cough from the other room, and I rushed to her side. She was sweating bullets, but very pale. I lifted her up gently in my arms. "Honey, we're going to the hospital. Remember to call me Leeny," I whispered. She nodded feebly as I carried her into the living room. "Is your car ready?"

[Callie]

Rayne

"Uh..." I ran for the door. "Almost," I said, dashing over to it, starting it up and getting in.

Eileen
I followed Rayne out slowly, closing the door behind me. I slipping into the backseat, cradling Bree to my chest.

[Callie]

Rayne

I pressed down hard on the gas once she was in the backseat.

Eileen
I jumped out of the car as soon as we reached the Out Patient. Careful not to move Bree too much, I walked into the hospital and looked around, going to the front desk. "She's - implying Bree - is sick, and I'm not sure what's wrong with her."

Rayne

I parked the car and locked it, then ran up to the hospital.

Eileen
I let them take Bree out of my hands, though I didn't trust them. I went to follow them as they put Bree on a stretcher, but a man held up a hand. "Miss, we need you to stay here, please," he said curtly. I nodded sadly and watched them roll my daughter away. I stood there, in the middle of the hall, like an idiot, praying she would be fine.

Rayne

I frowned and walked up behind Eileen, wrapping my arms around her. "She'll be fine," I assured her, though I wasn't sure if I was trying to convince myself or her.

Eileen
I placed my hands over his arms. "I hope so," I whispered, still staring after the way she they had taken her.

[Callie]

Dawn

I jumped up when there was a knock at the door and paid the pizza guy, setting the pizza down on the counter. "God, that smells good. You better hurry it up before I eat it all," I warned Andy.

Andy
I grinned. "You are so on." I flipped open the top and inhaled the smell of the fresh pineapple, and then picked a slice up and started to gulp it down. "Do you want a beer - excuse me, some apple juice?" I said innocently.

[Callie]

Dawn

I elbowed him in the side and grinned. "I'll take a beer." I stuck my tongue out at him.

Andy
"Fine, two beers then," I said, getting two beers from the fridge.

[Callie]

Dawn

"Thank you," I said with a sweet smile.

[JennyxEli]

Andy
"No problem," I grunted, getting back to digging into the pizza.

Eileen
After awhile of waiting, a nurse came up to me. "Who are you here for?" she said curtly. "Bree Daniels," I said quickly. She nodded. "Follow me." I looked at Rayne and stood up, following the nurse into a small room.

OOC: *headdesk* And here I am, wondering why you weren't posting. Excuse my obliviousness, please.

Rayne

I stood up and followed her, but they wouldn't let me in, so I sighed and sat back down, waiting for Eileen and worrying.

Dawn

I took a swig of the beer, then set it down and ate some of my pizza. Mmm. Beer and pizza. Things didn't get much better than that.

OOC: I was sitting here thinking the same thing. xD

Eileen
I kneeled next to Bree, her tiny figure lying in the huge bed. IVs were dripping next to her, but no needles were in her arms. "Is she okay? Is it just a cold?" I said, biting my lip. The doctor shook his head. "She has pneumonia. She should be able to make a full recovery, but we're keeping her here for a few days to make sure." I took a deep breath and kissed Bree's forehead. "I'll see you soon," I whispered as I headed back out to Rayne.

Andy
I raised an eyebrow. "Don't you try to eat the whole thing."

[Callie]

Dawn

"I told you I was going to."

Rayne

"Is she alright?" I asked, immediately getting up when Eileen walked back out.

Andy
"I know you did. And just because you have an excuse, doesn't make it right," I pointed out.

Eileen
"She has pneumonia," I said flatly, sitting down in a hard plastic chair.

[Callie]

Dawn

I pouted at him and finished off my piece of pizza, then perched myself on the counter. "Fine. Have the rest of your pizza."

Rayne

I frowned, sitting down next to her. "But she'll be okay if she gets plenty of rest and such, right?"

Andy
I raised my eyebrows at her but didn't argue. I quickly finished the half of my pizza and then leaned against the sofa, rubbing my stomach for a second as I drank my beer. "Ah, the ideal picture of an American."

Eileen
I shrugged, in a defeated way. "Bernie Mac died of pneumonia, didn't he?"

Rayne

I shrugged. "I suck with history," I told her with a weak smile.

Dawn

I laughed. "Well, that's probably what other countries think of us, at least."
