I looked at Sam like he was an idiot for a moment, then quickly caught on. "No, I think it was nerves or something. I don't know." I couldn't say that I hadn't had lunch, because I spent it with George today.

I looked up at George, who nodded and got out of his chair. "Yeah," he agreed, walking off towards the kitchen area.
As soon as he was out of sight, I turned to Sam. "It's not good," I informed him grimly, pursing my lips.

I smiled at the thought of George, then began to get off the floor and back into my chair. Sam was right - I did have him. And as long as I did, nothing would happen, right?

She seemed to relax a little as I saw her smile. George sat down on his chair, putting the glass of water in front of Mina.
I coughed and opened them menu; reading it closely as I in the corner of my eye I saw him stroke her back and kiss her.

I kissed George tenderly when he asked me if I was okay, then nodded and took a sip of my water. I wasn't going to tell him what was going on, though - that would make things very, very awkward.

I smiled and began to get into the full story, telling Sam about how I met George via a work collegue at a business party a while back. Usually, I wouldn't talk about the little details of my relationships, but I loved talking about how I met George. It wasn't especially exciting or anything, but I didn't care much. If Sam thought it was boring, he'd just have to suck it up and deal with it.

I nodded when I had to and interjected differnent "Ooh's" and "Aah's", but other than that, I was not really paying attention. It was a cute story, sure, but I think it is just one of those things that girls enjoy listening to.

Yep, my hunch was right - Sam wasn't exactly interested, nor approving. I tried my best not to show it, and tried to look oblivious to this, but... well, he was my best friend. There's nothing I want more than for his acceptance of my boyfriend, but I guess it wasn't going to be as perfect as planned. No matter how hard Sam tried to hide behind the mask, I could see through it.

We had just finished our meal, when George's phone began to buzz in his pocket. He took out his mobile and read the text message that he had just received, then groaned. "There's an emergency at work," he explains, frowning slightly, "I have to go sort it out. I'll pay for our meal at the front, okay?"
I nodded, and, after receiving a quick peck on the lips, watched my boyfriend as he left. He stopped briefly and handed the hostess some money, then left. Once he was gone, I turned to Sam. "You're taking me home," I declared.

We walked in silence to my car. I stopped and opened the door for her as she got in. I sighed deeply as I walked around the car and got in the driver's seat. There was tension all right, you could cut it with a knife.
