I looked away from her and back out to the sea, staring down into the waters. "Look," I pointed out to her. Leaping through the waves was a cluster of dolphins, screeching to each other. I smiled a little.

My eyes followed where he pointed, and I couldn't help but smile. "I used to want a pet dolphin," I said with a laugh. Then my face fell slightly at the memory. "My mom told me to get my head out of the clouds and the be serious for once in my life." I went back to staring at the dolphins, drawing my mouth into a straight line. After Dad was lost at sea, Mom had become a completely different person. I'd used to love her... not so after the incident.

The idea sounded... enticing. I could have friends. I could have Tom and Nick both as friends. Who was stopping me?
