I shook my head and shifted my arms from close at hand at his waist to around his neck. "No," I complained, frowning, "Stay. Please, I need you." I knew I was being selfish, but I missed Alexei and just wanted him all to myself for just a while longer. But, I knew that I was in fool's paradise, and this moment was just lasting on borrowed time that would pass sooner or later. It was time for this crazy, lovesick dhampir to snap back to reality, and focus on her job - they come first. But no, I was desparate to keep my best friend by my side for as long as possible; I was living in my own relishing fantasy that I did not want to escape... at least, not yet.

I sighed, but smiled weakly at her. "For a little while longer, okay?" I relented. I had to get to work, but I really didn't want to leave Margit. I'd only just gotten here, and I hadn't seen her in so long... not counting yesterday.

"I love you; I wish you don't have to leave me." At the thought of this, I frowned. Although I didn't have a choice when I parted ways with Alexei, did I have that same situation with Anita? I just threw her away without giving her a chance, and I felt guilty.

I rolled my eyes slightly. "I doubt that's gonna work," I muttered, nodding towards Jaimie and Trent; Kyle and Char's grandparents. And Trent was my grandpa, though I'd also considered Jaimie my grandma, though I knew my actual grandma had broken up with Grandpa Trent... right around this time, actually.

I smirked. "Doubtful. Maybe you can fake an asthma attack or something," I suggested with a small smile. I put my finger to my head, pretending like it was a gun, then pulled the pretend trigger. I slumped down dramatically on my desk, but did so quietly enough that only Elijah would notice.
