The last set of students in St. Vladimir's Academy graduated eighteen years ago. A few months after they left, the school was evacuated and the students sent home. It was the worst Strigoi attack anyone had seen in centuries. No one's been back to St. Vlad's since, but this year is its grand reopening. Students are pouring back in, some new, some descendants of the last graduates. St. Vlad's is bigger than before, and guardians are also expected to train harder than ever before. The Royal Court seems to think that the Strigoi are getting stronger and stronger as the days go by, so the guardians are expected to keep up with that. The Moroi are expected to keep up with their studies, but there are many other Moroi that train their elements in secret. There are even a few Moroi teachers that help them, if you can find the right ones. However, is the new St. Vlad's as well protected as previously hoped?
The Basics
There are three types of vampires. Only two of them go to the Academy, though. The Moroi and the dhampirs.
Moroi
Moroi are born. From other Moroi. A Dhampir can't have a Moroi child. It's just not possible. Moroi can also wield magic. The four elements are controlled by them: fire, water, earth, and air. Except Moroi hardly ever use their magic anymore. Not for the offensive, at least. They can also use compulsion, but not against each other. That's why they have their guardians. Anyhow, Moroi drink blood, but they do not kill the human they drink from. They also have a really good handle on their thirst. Moroi lose energy if they go for too long without blood, and they can go out in (dim) sunlight. Too much of the stuff hurts their eyes. Recently, however, a new magical element has been found. Saint Vladimir, the first Moroi ever, had this element. Spirit (more about it in terms).
Dhampirs
Dhampirs are a mix between human and Moroi. They're what comes from a Moroi and a human reproducing. Or a Moroi and a dhampir. You'd think that that last combination would make the child 3/4ths vampire, but nope. Dhampirs have the senses of a Moroi, but they can't wield the magic. They also have the endurance and strength of a human, which comes in very handy when fighting. There are very few dhampirs these days, and most of the men become guardians, while most dhampir women are looked down upon because they usually become "blood whores". Or at least, they're assumed to be.
Strigoi
Strigoi are immortal. They also drink blood, like Moroi, except they always kill whoever they drink from. Unless they're doing torture. Strigoi don't usually stick together, because they have quick tempers and could turn on each other in a split second. Humans, dhampirs, and Moroi could all easily turn into Strigoi. One way is by force; a Strigoi biting into them to change them. The second is by choice... a dhampir or Moroi killing another being. Not a Strigoi, but either a human, dhampir, or Moroi. If you kill one of those, you become a Strigoi. Strigoi are impossibly fast, strong, and they're mindless killers. All of them. No exceptions. Strigoi also cannot stand sunlight. At all. They shrivel up and die if it touches them. There are three ways to kill them. 1) A stake through the heart. 2) Chop their head clean off. 3) Burn them.
Terms
Dhampir: see above.
Moroi: see above.
Strigoi: see above.
Guardian: a dhampir that protects a Moroi with their own life. All guardians have had the saying "They come first" drilled into their minds since starting school.
Royal: a Moroi that is one of the royal families. Anyone from one of these families can become the King of Queen of the vampire government (see below for list of royal families).
Blood Whore: a dhampir (usually woman) that lets Moroi men drink blood from her while having sex. This is considered terribly wrong in the Moroi/Dhampir world.
Stake: stakes are silver. They have magic in them, which is how they kill Strigoi. Strigoi are immortal and soulless, so they can't stand life, which is what the magic is.
Ward: wards are filled with the four elements of magic. They're meant to keep Strigoi away and out of places.
Compulsion: something only Moroi can do to make the person they're using it on do whatever the Moroi says.
Specialize: specializing is when the Moroi (dhampirs don't specialize) find the element that they can use the best out of fire, water, earth, and air. Oh, and spirit, too. Not specializing never happens.
Spirit: a widely misunderstood element. Spirit users can heal things and people, enter others' dreams, bring people back from death (which takes a hell of a lot of energy) and use compulsion extremely well. They can even use compulsion on other Moroi, because spirit users have incredibly strong compulsion powers. The one nasty side effect of using spirit is that you slowly lose your mind.
Molnija marks: the marks on the back of the neck that guardians recieve once they've graduated.
Rules
- Ask to be a Royal Moroi.
- All Royal Moroi will get guardians eventually.
- If you have a certain Moroi you would like your dhampir guardian to be assigned to, put it in other.
- Follow the regular rules. This is PG-15, please.
- You can't make a Strigoi. Well, you can, but they probably won't be used much.
- Feel free to make a teacher, or the Headmistress (it's still Kirova).
- You don't have to have been in the original Vampire Academy roleplay to join this one.
- Moroi using their elements to fight is still largely frowned upon, so if your chari does so, it should be a secret to most people.
- If you have a dhampir that's a descendant of a Royal Moroi, they can have the last name, and they'll be shown under the list of Royals (see "The Royal Families"), but they aren't really Royal. If that makes sense (they'll only be shown under the Royals if they have the Royal last name).
- Have fun!

Name: Nova Siory
Age: 18 years old
Gender: Female
Grade: Senior
Element: N/A.
Position: Student
Race: Dhampir
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Nova's a lot like her mother in many ways; she can be a bit of a tease sometimes, but not usually. She's definitely a flirt though, and has picked up some major sarcasm from her parents. Nova used to get teased at her old school in Oregon before, because apparently it was a disgrace that Adrienne ended up marrying her guardian, Trent. Hopefully, the discrimination won't be the same around here, but you never really know. Nova's also a really friendly person, and she hates it when people make fun of each other. She doesn't care who it is, as long as she doesn't hate the person, she'll defend them if they're being teased or made fun of. She's also a bit of a partier - she doesn't do drugs or anything, but she does drink.
Nova's had a pretty good life so far; parents that still love each other, a brother that she usually gets along with, a nice house, and usually completely spoiled. There's not much exciting that has happened in her life. Her grandma was mysteriously killed, and no one knows who did it. Nova's mom took it pretty hard, much to everyone's disbelief. She was allowed to stay at the Royal Court for a while before she had to move out somewhere else so the new Queen could move in. A while later, Adrienne discovered she was pregnant with Nova. A few months after that, Trent proposed, and Adrienne gladly accepted; she never thought it would last that long in the first place. And... well. End of story. Until a year later, Trent and Adrienne had another kid, a boy this time. Nova's brother, Adrian.
Tattoos, Piercings, And Other Distinguishing Marks: Shocking green eyes, like her mom's, but lighter.
Other: None.

Name: Christian Baker
Age: 18 years old
Gender: Male
Grade: Senior
Element: Fire
Position: Guardian
Race: Unknown
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Damon and Rosetta spend a lot of time out of the house, which means Christian is usually stuck at home; Jaimie doesn't trust him to be able to come along, even though Christian's always wanted to be a guardian, like her. Just maybe better, if he could. Christian's sort of... aloof, you could say. He doesn't interact with people much, and has an interesting sense of humor. He can be sort of morbid a lot of the time, and prefers being alone to anything else. He's also very sarcastic when you can get him to talk, and has a lot of smart remarks stored away. No one really knows why this is; why he's like this. Christian himself doesn't know. It's just... him.
Christian has lived with his mom, Damon, Rosetta, and Dimitri, Renee, Prudence, and Adrian all his life. Jaimie was Damon's guardian and she refused to leave Christian at some stupid adoption center sort of thing that would take care of him until he went to school. Damon and Rosetta were fine with Christian sticking around, so he did. He's still not very close to any of their kids, though. He doesn't talk to any of them very much, and if Christian really talks to anyone, it's Adrian. Like about theories. All of them wonder how Christian was even born; who his dad was. All Jaimie will reveal about him is that he was a dhampir, which makes no sense. Dhampirs can't have kids with other dhampirs. It's been decided that Jaimie has some sort of screwed-up system, though, and that's how Christian came to be. Sometimes he wonders who his dad was, and is often angry that he never got to meet him. That he never stayed with Jaimie. Christian doesn't seem to realize Jaimie never really was one for relationships in the first place, though. He also hasn't told anyone that he can control fire, even though he's a dhampir... isn't he?
Tattoos, Piercings, And Other Distinguishing Marks: Cold, gray eyes that seem to stare right through your soul.
Other: None.

Name: Prudence Ivashkov
Age: 15 years old
Gender: Female
Grade: Freshman
Element: Water
Position: Royal Moroi
Race: Moroi
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Prudence takes after her mother in a lot of ways; she looks like her, and she's not really the most talkative person. To Damon's disappointment, Prudence doesn't really use sarcasm, either. On occasion, it's been known to happen, but most of the time, Prudence is perfectly respectful and keeps her mouth shut when it needs it. Unlike Dimitri, who's always cracking jokes in that laid-back fashion of his. Prudence is a bit of a loner, but she greatly looks up to her older sister, Renee. Well, for advice and such at the very least.
Prudence has had a fairly boring life. Sometimes she wishes it would be more interesting, like in the books and movies that she loves so much, but she also realizes that while things like that may be interesting, they don't always end well; not like in movies and books. She learned that from Jaimie, who doesn't mind telling the story of how she died to anyone who asks. Luckily, it hasn't happened again. That might end badly, according to Prudence's dad, Damon. He's not sure he could bring her back to life again, and he's not sure if Rosetta knows exactly how.
Tattoos, Piercings, And Other Distinguishing Marks: Really bright blue eyes.
Other: Sometimes called Pru.

Position: Royal Moroi

Picture:
Bio/Personality: Unlike Prudence, Dimitri could probably be almost a clone of his dad. He's always cracking jokes, underage drinking, and all that other good stuff. Like partying. Dimitri loves parties. He's also a very laid-back type of guy; not one for fights or anything. He prefers to sit in the background and look amused, be uninvolved. He doesn't believe in getting hyped-up over very much, and he doesn't involve himself in politics of any kind. Some people may call him mysterious; Dimitri calls himself "unique. Just like everyone else."
Dimitri's had a boring life. Tons of friends, a few girlfriends, but none that got really serious. Not that he really minds; seriousness has never been his thing anyways. He can be a real romantic, if he feels like it, but that only happens on occasion. Dimitri also loves random sayings. There are a few he lives his life by and likes; "You're unique. Just like everyone else", "Live. Laugh. Love", "Common sense: it's not all that common", and a few others. He gets along well with all of his siblings, and most people in general. It's just... well, difficult to hate Dimitri.

Name: Dice Dessalines
Age: 17 years old
Gender: Female
Grade: Junior
Element: Fire
Position: Non-Royal Moroi
Race: Moroi
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Dice has never really liked rules. They're just not her thing. But whatever. She'll follow them. Usually. Well, unless there's something she really wants to do, and rules say she can't. Kind of like the time she wanted to stay in her current boyfriend's room at the Academy in France. It was against the rules, but of course she didn't listen. That's just how Dice is. Sarcastic, outgoing, rebellious, determined, and maybe just a little bit of a klepto.
Dice has a twin sister out there somewhere. Sierra. Dice has met her a few times, but she doesn't particularly like her. Sierra's with their parents; Dice got away as soon as she could. Her parents only wanted one kid in the first place, and Sierra's their little angel. So Dice sticks to herself and leaves her family alone. There's not really much to say about her life, and she doesn't normally share about herself. Says it's trivial. She'd rather talk about music or... well, anything, really. Just not her family.
Tattoos, Piercings, And Other Distinguishing Marks: Lip studs (as shown; there's one on each side).
Other: Her last name is pronounced "day-suh-leans". Occasionally called DD. Or Double D, if she's being checked out (calling her that is not recommended, if you like your health). She can also speak fluent French.

Name: "Shadow" Schuyler
Age: 17 years old
Gender: Male
Grade: Junior
Element: N/A
Position: Guardian
Race: Dhampir
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Schuyler has a very... bipolar sort of personality, you could say. Sometimes he's really outgoing, and sometimes he wants to wring the throat of anyone that comes near him. According to some of the people at St. Vlad's, he's the most interesting thing about this place, but that's mostly because no one knows him. They might think so, but, chances are, they're wrong. Schuyler doesn't share much, and when he does, there's a very good chance he lied. See, Schuyler's a compulsive liar. He can't even help it. He lies to get out of things, lies to get into things, lies for the hell of it. For the adrenaline. The thrill of the possibility of getting caught. You could say he's a bit of daredevil.
Schuyler, as previously said, is interesting. Mysterious. Unknown. Fresh meat. People don't know him, and he most certainly hasn't revealed anything. Honestly, Schuyler never met his parents. As soon as he was born, he was handed to a set of foster parents, who called him Mitchell for a while, then another set when he got to be too much for the first pair of foster parents, and they called him Terrance. Then he got too many detentions and was just too much of a troublemaker for that set, so he was sent to yet another set of foster parents. Vlad, Yuri, Isaac, Joseph, Will, Fredrick... honestly, Schuyler's lost track of his real name. With the latest set of foster parents, he set his school on fire, so they carted him off to boot camp for a while, where he started going simply by Shadow or Schuyler. After that, he didn't even go back to them. He headed straight for Montana, and he got into St. Vlad's. Of course, this is all very hush-hush. In other words, no one knows about it.
Tattoos, Piercings, And Other Distinguishing Marks: None.
Other: Some people call him Shadow, some people call him Schuyler. He prefers Schuyler, but he'll answer to Shadow as well.

Name: Noelle Montgomery
Age: 17 years old
Gender: Female
Grade: Junior
Element: N/A
Position: Guardian
Race: Dhampir
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Noelle doesn't really fit a stereotype. That's probably the first thing you should know about her. She fights, and she does it well, but she's also a bit of a bookworm. She likes a few video games, and she prefers horror/mystery novels over romance stories, while going around praising Stephen King as the best author ever. Noelle has never played World of Warcraft, but she's wasted more than a few hours on RuneScape when she should've been learning how to stake a Strigoi. Honestly, Noelle's something like a badass nerd.
Noelle's mom didn't want a kid. She really didn't. She preferred to sleep around with half the town, and that was how Noelle came to be dumped on the doorstep of one of those places that takes care of the kids the blood whores are too busy to keep. She was completely used to taking care of herself and minding her own business before she met this guy. But this isn't the typical story - it's nothing like that. His name is Adrian. If you knew him, you would know right away it's not the typical romance story. Especially since when Noelle first met him, it was the morning after Adrian had slept with some other girl in the orphanage. They talked for a bit over breakfast, and then Adrian tried to make a move on Noelle the next time he saw her. Noelle wasn't having any of it, and she let him know she just wanted to be just friends. She won't admit it, but Noelle has never had a relationship, and she's not sure she wants one. However, Adrian reluctantly agreed that they could just be friends, and he would try not to make any moves on her... but he couldn't promise anything. And that was sort of how the friendship came to be. It's been a few months since Noelle really heard from him, though, because they don't live very close to each other, and she knows Adrian is probably busy sleeping with half the town. So she keeps to herself, reading any book that looks good that she can get her hands on.
Tattoos, Piercings, And Other Distinguishing Marks: Her hair's pretty red, so it's kind of distinguishing.
Other: She secretly doesn't believe in love.
Age: 17 years old
Gender: Female
Grade: Junior
Element: N/A

Age: 19 years old
Gender: Male
Grade: Senior
Element: Earth
Position: Non-Royal Moroi
Race: Moroi
Picture:
Bio/Personality: Sin's a ladies' man, pure and simple. He may not have the attraction power that some people around here do, but Sin's had practice. He's charismatic and charming, and with that, he can make many women like putty in his hands. The real Sin is widely unknown - most people take no time to look beyond the dickhead surface. Sin wasn't always like this, though, but that's another story for another day, and one he doesn't like to bring up.
He doesn't really talk about his past much.

Bio/Personality: Kyle's a pretty outgoing kind of guy. You could say he fits the jock stereotype, except he's nicer. He does like to tease, though. A lot. And he's pretty thoughtful most of the time, so he'll apologize if he thinks he's offended someone. Kyle's into pranks, jokes, sarcasm, and the like. Other than that, there's not really very much to tell about him. Personality-wise, at least.

Picture:
Bio/Personality: Taryn's a dreamer. She's often caught up in her own mind, and when she isn't, she talks. A lot. But don't mistake her for really friendly. It's just as likely that while she's talking animatedly to you, she's thinking about the most interesting way to kill you. You could say she's a little messed-up in the head. Actually, Taryn just gets bored easily, and death scenes have always fascinated her. She likes to try and recreate them with Strigoi. Not that it usually works.
