I turned to look out the window once he started driving, daydreaming and humming quietly to myself. My thoughts drifted to Eric, and how he'd somehow stayed away the past two months. Maybe he'd realized it was a lost cause after all. Or maybe he was preparing himself. Gathering money for court, or some shit like that.

I stopped the car once we reached the parking lot, but kept my hands on the steering wheel and didn't say anything. I needed to calm the fuck down. I was sure I was coiled up as tight as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, and I didn't need to freak out if the slightest thing went wrong. Just go with whatever happens, man. It's not like she'll care if everything goes perfect; she'll probably just be happy you finally popped the damn question! echoed Adrian's voice in my head.

I wonder why he's so jittery. I mean, I know he acts shy and nervous often, but not like this. Something is bugging him. Did I do something wrong? Does my breath smell or something? My mind raced with possibilities, but then I almost laughed at how ridiculous I was. Everything was probably fine.

I chuckled to myself and walked in the door, looking around the restaurant. It was probably the closest thing this town had to a fancy restaurant, therefore making it hard to get into. Rayne must have pulled a lot of strings to get reservations here.

"Good," I said mischieviously, and kissed her hard on the lips. Not that I couldn't control myself; I knew I'd have to deal with stolen kisses until Bree actually went to bed, and I couldn't do anything too extreme with Aubrey because it might wake her up.
I was never having kids.

I took a seat at the table, trying not to make a face at how cliche it was - it was romantically so, of course, but it was still cliche. There were two seats across from each other, a white linen tablecloth, and a candle and a single rose in the middle of the table.
