I nodded slightly and reluctantly let go of her hand. "So... how's life?"

"Busy." I shrugged. "I guess you know what I spent the money on now." I smiled slightly.

"I guess so. Find anyone worthy?" I asked her, leaning back in the chair.

I walked over to where Holly and Silas were with that same astonished look on my face. "Nice to see you, too."

"No....not really." I shrugged. "Like they probably said. I'm tough."

I was surprised as I looked at the guy who had 'saved me' earlier. "Nothing really," I lied, but knowing I was a crappy liar, I sighed. "It's complicated."

"I know," I told her with a smirk, then turned when I heard another voice. I blinked. "Holy shit... Bri?"

I chuckled slightly. "Isn't everything?"

"Oh, hi, Bri!" I hoped she hadn't been here when I was yelling at him. "Look who came back?" I punched his shoulder, maybe a little too hard. Whoops.

I made a great show of falling off the chair before I got back up and resituated myself. "You practically killed me," I told Holly, pretending to be hurt.

"Oh, so terribly sorry, dear." I said, tone dripping with sarcasm. I was smirking, too.

I shrugged. "Guess so. But it's way harder to understand...I couldn't explain it if I tried." I grimaced lightly. "Basically, it's guy trouble. Guy comes, becomes my best friend, I fall in love with him, he leaves and never comes back. End of story." I just spilled all of my problems to a stranger. I must crazy.

"Hey, Holly! So you had time to start a band, but not send a note that you were still alive?" I asked sarcastically, sitting down with them.

"Well, I thought you did a pretty good job of explaining it. Though that kind of... well, sucks," I told her with a frown.

Slade

"I'm illiterate," I said seriously, by way of explanation.

"Well... I guess that makes sense, since we're talking about you," I teased.

I shrugged. "Yeah. It does." I felt my eyes pricking, and I blinked rapidly a few times, trying to get rid of the tears. "There's just...a lot more involved. But what I told you was the basic idea of it."

"... Wait, what?" I asked, arching an eyebrow at her.

Ty

I didn't say anything, just leaned in and hugged her. She looked like she needed it. "I'd also sing to you or something like that, but there's a reason I'm the drummer..." I said with an apologetic shrug as I pulled away.

I was surprised by his tenderness, but smiled shyly. "Thanks," I said softly. "It's fine."

"No problem," I said with a small smile, glancing back at the bar. "Want me to - never mind." How could I have missed that? Oh God... she was probably way too young for me. Late teens if I was lucky, like 16 or 17, but she was still under 19, which was usually my limit. And I'd almost offered to buy her a beer. Smooth, Ty.

I raised a delicate eyebrow. I could tell he was offering to get me a drink, and of course I wasn't old enough to. But...for Alex...I think I owe him this last thing. Something spontaneous. "No, no. I would like that," I said, then blushed. Oh geez.

I blinked. "How old are you anyways? I mean... I don't want it to be too illegal..."

I could tell he wasn't much of the type to do anything illegal - hell, I wasn't either. But a little bit of lying won't hurt, right? Besides, my birthday's in a month...or three..."I just turned eighteen," I told him.

"Oh... Well, I guess that's ok," I said with a slight smile. "What d'you want, then?"

I watched the guy, taking deep breaths. I couldn't believe I was doing this. And now that I think about it, I don't even know the guy's name. You think I'd be more cautious about who I trust.

When the guy handed me the beers, I gave the girl a friendly smile and slid her one, drinking some of my own. "What's your name, anyways?" I wondered aloud.
