I slowly slinked through the forest, listening for any little sounds. A snapping of a twig to signal a tribute or possibly food, the rustle of leaves on the forest floor. But I heard nothing.

[Callie]

OOC: Well, every chari except for one is going to die, aren't they? Unless we're pulling a thing like the book with 2 winners...

Sahara

Eventually, I completely stopped and ceased breathing. It felt like someone was here. I could practically feel their heartbeat. Now I just had to find them, kill them, raid their supplies, and be on my way. I darted behind a tree so I could listen better.

OOC: Can be Anvl or some random person.

OOC: True, true... Can Juniper die before Seb? >.> EPIC SHOWDOWN BETWEEN ANVL SAHARA JUNIPER AND SEB. *plot idea* It ends up being the two couples against each other, and Seb and Sahara will be reluctant to fight. So Anvl's all like, "Fuck this sappy love shit," and killed Juniper. And Seb's like, "-_-" and attempts to kill Anvl or something but he dies. And then it's between Sahara and Anvl.

I stopped, sensing a person nearby. I turned around and swiftly threw my knife where I heard a small noise, cursing when the knife struck the tree trunk.

[Callie]

OOC: If Anvl killed Seb, it wouldn't matter if she loved him or not, Sahara would kill him. And I have plans for how Seb's going to die already! D:

Sahara

I quickly moved from behind the tree, unsheathing my sword as I did so. I pointed it at the man's throat, then paused. Hesitation was bad. Just do it. But he'd snuck up on me. That almost never happened. He could be useful. And, of course, it didn't hurt that he certainly wasn't bad-looking... Not that that mattered in the first place. If you got attached to someone during the Games, it was likely you'd die, have to kill them, or be forced to watch them die. Caring was a weakness. Still, usefulness was always good. Slowly, I lowered my sword, sheathing it again. I stepped back and ripped the dagger from the tree. I threw it at his feet. "I'll watch your back if you watch mine?" I proposed. Since when were Careers the only ones that could make alliances?

OOC: I finished the first book of this series today.

OOC: Exactly! Making Sahara champion! :DD Dammit! DX The plot sounded so good.

I raised an eyebrow. "I just tried to kill you and you want to be an ally with me?" I asked, a cocky expression crossing my face.

[Callie]

"There aren't many people that can actually manage to sneak up on me like you did." I shrugged. "It's your choice." I grasped the hilt of my sword, knowing I could dart out of the way and kill him faster than he could pick that dagger up and throw it at me.

I could see the way she was poised, ready to attack me if I said no. I wasn't afraid of her; I had my tranquilizer gun still with me. But she could be a help for awhile. "All right. Fine. I'll be your ally," I told her.

[Callie]

Sahara

"Good." I smiled briefly, glancing away from him, but only momentarily. I had the feeling, for at least a little while, I was going to be watching my back twice as much. "We should find some water."

OOC: Brb.

I watched her warily. I honestly didn't need an ally. I could kill her now that I had her thinking we were allies; but no, maybe I won't do that just yet. "Yeah, water could be good."

I saw the look in his eyes and smirked slightly to myself, walking backwards. We may be allies, but it was a loosely used term and there was no way I trusted him yet. "Before you decide to lodge your dagger in my heart, stop and think. You're strong by yourself, right? You may not believe it, but so am I. Which means, together..." I trailed off, arching an eyebrow at him to see if he got where I was going with this.

"I'm not denying that we won't be stronger together," I said in a low voice. "But eventually we'll view each other as enemies."

[Callie]

Sahara

"Naturally," I said mildly. "And then, may the most skilled win. Until then, we can help each other out, can't we? The Games are about survival... for us. Entertainment for everyone else. With two of us, there's better chance of survival, and if we turn on each other eventually, I'm sure they'll get their entertainment." The last bit was said a bit more bitterly than I meant it to be, but I was just... angry. At the Capitol. To keep us in line, they'd set these Games up. To show us that, if they wanted to, they could make us kill each other. And, of course, we played right into their hands. It was that or die. Playing into their hands simply seemed like the better option.

"Seems like you're the type who believes in loyalty," I remarked. Might make you weaker and easier to pick off later on.

[Callie]

Sahara

I let out a harsh laugh. "Not really. Sure, I'll be loyal... up until the point it benefits me more not to be," I said, eyeing him warily.

"Well, your tone...it made it seem like that us having eventually to turn on each other would be a bad thing. I assumed that you weren't one to betray or backstab people," I commented nonchalantly.

[Callie]

Sahara

"That wasn't why my tone was that way," I said simply. I didn't go on. Slamming the Capitol on something that would be broadcasted across the entire nation wouldn't end well for me. I didn't comment on the betrayal and backstabbing thing, thinking of Sebastian. If it got down to just him and myself, would I be able to kill him? Would I be able to end the young boy I'd grown up with's life so easily?

"Whatever you say then," I grunted, knowing she could be holding back because of the cameras watching us.

[Callie]

"Mm..." I murmured, slowing to a stop. Those plants were only found near water, weren't they? I bent down and looked for more, and, sure enough, they followed a path. "There should be some water this way."

I nodded at her and took the lead, slowly edging my way closer and closer to the right, hoping to find a river bank. Sure enough, the trees cleared out, revealing gravelly sand that led down to a green-blue river that snaked around the forest. I bent down, taking a canister out of my backpack and dipping it under the water.

I sat down next to the stream as well, rummaging in my backpack and pulling out a water bottle, which I filled. I fell silent as I heard a rustle in the trees. Stowing the bottle back in the bag, I put my hand on my sword, peering up into the trees. After a few moments, I found one that was, sure enough, occupied by one of the contestants. From the build, it was a boy. I couldn't see their face, but it didn't really matter. "Come on down," I coaxed. "I'll end it quickly. Pinky swear." Well, he couldn't hide up there forever.

I looked at her, then followed her gaze to the boy in the tree. My lip curled, eyes glinting in excitement. I reached for my knife slowly. If I could manage to throw the knife and hit him directly in the chest...I wasn't sure if I wanted to risk possibly missing though.

"Sahara?" I asked flatly from my spot in the tree. I saw the figure below me freeze. "Yes, I haven't died yet. Who's he?"
I wished I could see her face. I didn't know if she was happy to see me or planning to kill me as I spoke. "My ally," she said simply. "You can come out, you know."
I ran my hands over the bow in my arms. "I think I'll wait until your new friend promises he won't kill me."

I snorted. "You expect me to just let him go? He's right there - I could just throw my knife, he'd been dead, and then we'd be one step further in the Games."

[Callie]

Sahara

"I understand that I can't pick up and save every stray I find," I said wryly, "and I won't. But I won't forsake my little brother to fend for himself... or let you kill him. Kill him, and our alliance ends, and I'll have to kill you." I didn't like to threaten the guy, but if it kept Seb safe (for now, at least), I'd have to deal with it.

ooc: So after I finish obsessing over Night World, I will read my Hunger Games book, and then join late with actual charries.

OOC: Okay. And I told you they were good. ;D See, you can't rule out things by L.J. Smith just because of TFG!

OOC: For some reason, Poppy and Phil reminded me of Blaze and Alyssa, and that whole book gave me realllyyyyyy weird Plot Scenes, but I loved James. I'm in the second one now and I'm kind of thinking I'll end up loving Ash. o.O" And I kind of love it more than Vampire Diaries.

OOC: Same. And I ADORED Ash.

I shrugged. "Fine. Try it, then."

Did they think I couldn't hear them talking? I had to wonder if the guy even knew I already had an arrow pointed at his head. Y'know... for safety measures.
