The Official NaNoWrimo 2010 Challenge!

As many of you know, but some may not, November is National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo for short). The challenge is to write a novel (defined, for this purpose as being a minimum of 50,000 words of fiction) in thirty days.

For the past couple of years, Boolprop has had quite a large number of people participate in the challenge!

It's about that time of year to start talking, planning, and getting ready for 2010's big event! So who's in this year? What do you plan to write? Bounce plot ideas off others here, complain about those awful moments of writer's block, and celebrate those moments of victory!

I'm gonna be honest; I've been juggling all sorts of ideas around in my head the past few days, and I have no idea what I'm going to write about. Nor do I have any way to count how many words I have. Well, except for various online word counters. Which I'm sure will become my best friends in November. I think I'll probably set my goal for 10,000 words, considering I have to juggle school and roleplaying and a social life, so 10,000 should be good... especially if I can actually finish it.

This'll be hard. For the past few years my goal has been 4500 words because that's the goal our teacher set for us...
Now I need an idea about what to write about. I'm already writing so many stories. xD

I did 10,000 last year, Callie. It was easy peasy. This year, I might do 12,000.

Yeah, maybe it was easy peasy for you. I have difficulties sticking with things. xD

I did 10000 last year, and if my computer didn't get viruses, I woulda finished, dammit. xD
I really have no idea what I'll write about. I'll probably end up rewriting something, since I always have to plan out stories. xD

Currently I have four ideas. ^^ A few minutes ago, I would've had five, but I forgot the other one... >.> And here's to hoping that your computer doesn't get infested with viruses again, Emmy. xD

I have a few ideas. They're all over the place. I'm not sure if I should try something realistic this year. Last year was kind of above my head. I was desperate to do it. I had a plan of how many words a day I could do and everything, but things didn't go entirely to plan.

I have three-four ideas, and I'm having a friend help me decide, but I might start off with two of them. Or screw the rules and work on Crimson! ^^

Callie, if you're having trouble deciding, maybe you should do a bunch of short stories instead?

I may steal the short stories idea. It'd be a lot easier since I have a habit of getting sick of my ideas.

I'm definitely doing this. I'm going to attempt the full 50,000 again too. Probably own't make it thoughh...

Well, here's my WordPad document of ideas... xD

1) A girl and a boy meet in a coffee shop on campus. Four guys (two friends; the boy is one of them, and two boyfriends, over time). After a long period of time, the girl is hanging out with the boy, and she discovers that he's been watching her. Assigned to kill her, because she saw someone (male/female?) kill someone else supernaturally. She wasn't supposed to see it, so she needs to die. Simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

2) 3 guys. One Mr. Nice Guy. One Player. One Teddy Bear (or only Player and Teddy Bear). Player (Eli) teaches Teddy Bear (let's call him Theo) how to... well, get girls. What else? How in the world could this end? (A.K.A. NO PLOT.)

3) Two words: Sinclair Noir. Doesn't that practically write itself?

4) A college girl and guy are paired together for a journalism project that involves spying on a mutual friend. Much arguing, bickering, and hate is exchanged, and then... well. (A.K.A. Needs more of a plot).

5) The apocalypse has begun. Everything's a wasteland, and the only people that have survived were the ones that took shelter under ground. Year 2050, how will the humans get their race back on track? Are they even at the top of the food chain anymore?

6) When your friends and family are contaminated by the wolfy disease that's sweeping the nation, how do you pick a side? And how do you know if you picked the right choice? Is this the typical Good Vs. Evil story you've always read about? The choice is no longer obvious. Things are terrifying, and you may not survive (yeah, I was feeling dramatic).

And now I pray for input and hope you guys are as super-nice as I think and don't steal my ideas. xDD

Stebie, I would do short stories, but I hate short stories, and I can't do them anyways I already think I know which idea I want to do, but now it's switched to debating between my two favorites...

Actually, I think I'm mostly trying for 50,000 too, but I know I won't achieve it, so I'm convincing my mind that it wants to get to 10,000 words.

Anyway, I'm going to tell you guys my idea - no stealing.

Bonita Ivanov was always evil, everyone knows that. Isn't that what you'd expect of the Leader, anyway? She causes chaos, and everyone is afraid of leaving their homes, just because of her.
However, she's not staying long. A sister-act, Gunner and Saber Ghosteye, have been ordered by the Foxtrot (assassianation group) to murder Bonita. Not that these two girls mind - Bonita murdered their father, and they lived on the streets until they met Nemisis Gale. He took them under their wing, and trained them in the Foxtrot. Now, everyone knows who they are; people rely on the duo to get rid of evil. Mainly, Bonita.
But underneath the veil, it's a whole lot more personal than that.

Noo Callie! Idea 5 is the way to go. But I say that cause I love apocalyptic stories, and i'll probablly do one myself.

xDDD I'm not gonna lie, so far 4 and 6 are my favorites.

Meh. Apocalypse is the way to go.

I don't know if I could do apocalypse, but I kind of like that idea too. There's a possibility I may do all of them eventually, but for NaNoWriMo... yeah. xD

However, I did read a book that was sort of about the apocalypse, but things got better in the end. Which was good, because the book was sort of making me depressed

Ohh, what was the boook Callie? Those types of boooks are depressing, though I find them really interesting.

Life As We Knew It by Susan Pfeffer. It's really good, you should read it xD But if you wanna keep talking about it, post on my reading recommendations, since we're getting off-topic and I have it on there. Or if I don't, I meant to add it... xD
