After everyone - with the exception of Brittany and Victoria who had a problem with showing up on time - was dressed and out on the soccer field, we started warming up. "Is Meghan's mom going to come back and be our cheerleading coach or do we have to find a new one?" Josie asked curiously. Tasha glanced back at her, "She wouldn't be here today anyways, Meghan's funeral is in an hour." Ahh, shit. I'd forgotten all about that. I wasn't sure whether or not I actually wanted to go, though, and now wasn't the time to think about it. "Do you think your mom would be our cheerleading coach?" Josie asked as she turned around to face me. I raised an eyebrow, "My mom?" She was never involved in any of my school activities, I doubted she'd want to now.
Nate
I rolled my eyes at Isaiah and his friend from my spot on the bleachers. If he thought he was going to get Coach to let him add a player to the team without even trying out, I was definitely going to complain about that. The guy seemed to think he could just take everything he wanted. Like my girlfriend and my spot on the football team. He'd probably be trying to buy my house or something soon.

The cheerleaders had come onto the field by now and Dempsey was watching them with interest. "You know," he remarked, "I do not watch... football... much, but I may have to start." I laughed and hit him playfully on the back, standing up and arching an eyebrow at him. "Not quite sure who you're gonna be watching? The cheerleaders or the football players?" I teased, stepping down a few rows of bleachers. He shook his head. "Definitely the cheerleaders. I may not be picky about gender, but women tend to be better-looking than men. Excluding you," Dempsey said with a mischievous grin. "Well, sadly for you, I don't play for your team, so you'd better stick with the cheerleaders." Once we were on solid ground, I ran backwards from him a bit, grabbing a football off the ground. "Show me what you got, Dempsey," I said with a grin, winding my arm back and throwing the football straight towards him, expecting him to dodge it or something. Instead, he ran backwards and caught it. My eyebrows disappeared into my hair. "Thought you said you never watched football?" I could see the mischievous grin from here, even though we were a ways away from each other. "I have not. I never said I did not play it, Monsieur Leone," he told me. The ball whizzed towards me pretty quickly, but I caught it. Barely. He'd caught the one I'd thrown better, but only slightly. He'd be a good wide receiver... Pity he wasn't in school - ours in particular.

"Who's your new friend?" I asked Isaiah with a grin as I carried over a tray of water containers to the table on the sidelines. "She didn't fall this time," I remarked mostly to myself, watching Alyssa do one of those pyramid flip things she hadn't done so well the other day.

I followed his gaze to Alyssa, which, since I'd just thrown the football, wasn't a smart idea. Dempsey chose that moment to throw it back, and I got hit in the side of the face. I scowled at him as he walked over to Mike and I, trying to bite back a grin. "My friend. Finn Dempsey. A.K.A. the James Bond of the real world."

I tried not to laugh at Mike. "Not exactly." I looked over to Coach when he came over, then pointed back to Finn. "He's a friend of mine. Coach, meet Finn Dempsey."

"You've got a nice arm, Dempsey," the coach remarked. "Do you go here?" "No," Nate called as he made his way down from the bleachers. "I doubt he goes here and we already had tryouts! It's got to be against the rules to let him on the team."

I raised an eyebrow at the boy coming from the bleachers. I did not really have a desire to be on the football team, but if I changed my mind and the coach would have me, there was no way he was going to keep me off it. "Non, monsieur. I graduated from my school last year," I informed him simply, assuming he would pick up that I was not from around here from my rather obvious accent.

"It's a shame you're not involved in some sort of class here, kid. I think you'd have a spot on the team," Coach told him. Nate glared at both of them, "Oh, like this is fair."

I raised an eyebrow at the boy, wondering what was bugging him. "Relax, chienne, I will not be taking your spot," I assured him with a faint smile. Then I turned back to the coach and nodded a bit. "I am grateful for the offer, monsieur."

"Behave yourself, Anders," the coach told Nate before walking back off to round up the rest of the team. "He doesn't have to worry, Isaiah already took his spot." Nate smirked slightly, "I'm not worried, I always get back what's mine." With that, he took off to follow Coach to the rest of the group.

I stared after him for a moment before taking a step forward, planning on going to punch him again, but Dempsey grabbed me by the shoulders, his eyes wide. "Mon ami, it will be fine. If you took his spot on the team, you are obviously superior at the job, oui? No need to worry." I clenched my fists without fully realizing it. "He's not talking about my spot on the team. He's talking about Lyssa." Which didn't even make sense, because Alyssa was Carter's girlfriend before. I could tell from the look on his face and the tone of his voice, though, that he was talking about Lyssa.
Harmony
"Well... thanks for the ride," I told Noel awkwardly as I climbed out of the passenger seat of his truck. He'd swung by Lyssa's house earlier, looking for his backpack, and then he'd picked me up on my walk to the football field to watch practice and offered to give me a ride. I seriously didn't understand this kid. He was way more confusing than most guys. He just nodded a bit, also getting out of the pickup truck and locking the door. Vaguely, I wondered why I couldn't read his mind either, but figured it had something to do with his species and dismissed it. I did, however, wonder what the hell was going on when he began walking with me to the bleachers. Well... whatever. I didn't need a good reputation in the first place, right? Why he had a... sketchbook?... with him when we were at a football field made no sense, however, and I was pretty confused as I made my way up to the second row of bleachers. Noel decided to ignore me and climbed all the way to the top.

"Like that makes a difference," I muttered under my breath, following his gaze. "Yeah. Harmony and..." I knew his name had been mentioned; what was it? "Noel. I wonder what they're doing here." Well, I figured Harmony was here because she was Lyssa's friend, but who knew why Noel was here. From what I understood, no one really liked him. Not that I could understand why, because he seemed like such a cheery and friendly guy...

"Are we going to Meghan's funeral?" Josie asked quietly as I stood up from my spot on the grass. Football practice had just finished, and cheer-leading practice had been done with for a while now. I shook my head, "It already started, and you don't show up late to things like that. ... I have to go talk to Isaiah." I made away across the field before Josie could suggest coming with me. It was already going to be awkward enough. I had no idea what I was even going to say to him.

I looked up as Lyssa came over, smiling faintly. Dempsey smiled reassuringly at me before he walked off to go talk to someone else he was familiar with - Harmony. I took Alyssa's hand in mine and smiled at her. "Okay, disregard whatever else has happened between us for the last... whatever, you know what I mean. I have something to show you," I told her seriously.

I bit my lip as I tried to figure out what I was supposed to do. I came over here to tell him things weren't working out, but right now all I seemed to be able to think about was how much I liked my hand in is. It wasn't helping me want to object, so instead I just nodded. "Okay."
Nate
"Hey, look who decided to show up," I heard Julian mutter in amusement. I glanced in his direction, noticing that Noel kid on the bleachers with a sketchbook. "... What the hell is he doing here?" Julian rolled his eyes, "I wouldn't know, I'm not Psychic or something." "Think we should go talk to him?" Steven asked with a grin. I knew he wasn't meaning that he actually wanted to talk to him. I wasn't sure what to say, because the guy hadn't exactly done anything to deserve getting ganged up on, but if I protested, somehow I'd end up getting ganged up on. I wasn't going to let that happen, so I found myself forcing a smirk, "Lead the way."

I grinned at her and dragged her out to my car with me, opening the passenger's seat door for her, then running around to the driver's side and jumping in.
Noel
I was almost done with my sketch when I realized that both the cheerleaders and the football players were done by now... and at least a fourth of the team was looking at me. I swallowed imperceptibly, unsure of what to do. Did I get up and try to outrun them? Or did I stay here and let them beat my brains out? They both seemed like losing situations, since they could easily catch me if I tried to run, so it seemed like I was out of options.

"Where are we going?" I asked curiously after I'd gotten into the car. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be nervous or excited.

I followed Steven and Julian over to the bleachers, watching as Steven ran up the bleachers and sat down next to Noel and ripped the sketchbook out of his hands. "... Is that Josie Steele?" he asked with an amused look.

"That's for me to know and for you to find out," I said, shutting my door and starting up the car. I gestured to the radio. "You can play whatever."
Noel
Aggravating them was a bad idea, I knew, but it wasn't like playing nice would actually get them to go away. I focused on getting the pink away from my cheeks. Oh dear God, what if they told her? Fuck, I was not equipped to handle this... "What's it to you?" I shot back. Lucky for him, I hadn't been writing anything - he might've gotten annoyed that his IQ was too low for him to make sense of the words.

I pressed the power button on the radio, then tried to waste time scanning through stations. It didn't feel like time was going any faster, though.
Nate
"Well, maybe I like her," Steven pointed out. I was pretty sure that was a complete lie, but I kept my mouth shut. "You know, I think this does her justice." He took the page out of the book, ripping it half. I couldn't help but laugh slightly as Steven shoved the book back to him. "I trust you'll stay far away from any of our cheerleaders?" Julian asked, shoving him slightly.

After a while, we arrived at the same place I'd taken her to a few nights ago - where I'd played In My Head for her. I got out of the car and left the door open this time, rummaging through the CDs in my car, eventually grabbing A Rocket to the Moon's On Your Side CD and putting that in, flipping the song to She's Killing Me. Then I jogged over to her door and opened it, bowing to her with a silly grin as I did so.
Noel
Part of me wanted to push him down the bleachers and say that it didn't matter because he wasn't good enough for her, but I didn't. Hell, I wasn't good enough for her. I felt my jaw clench when he tore the sketch in half, and somehow managed to keep my balance when Julian pushed me. I didn't answer them, and instead forced my sketchbook into the messenger bag beside me, picking it up and maneuvering around them to hop down the bleachers and to my truck. I needed to get home, and I'd much rather it be without bruises... or without being pushed down the bleachers.

I laughed slightly, stepping out of the car. I'd only heard this song a couple of times, so I wasn't really familiar with it, but I still liked it. "... What are we doing here?" I asked him, my curiosity still getting the best of me.
Nate
"Trying to run away from a fight?" Julian taunted, the two of them following him down. "I don't think you heard my friend here." Steven smirked a bit, punching Noel hard in the face.
Josie
I let out a small scream as I noticed some guy get punched across the bleachers. They were too far away for me to actually notice who it was from my spot in the grass, but apparently Tasha could see just fine. She rolled her eyes at me with a laugh, "Josie, chill out. It's just the Hart kid." "What did he do?" I asked with wide eyes. "I'm pretty sure they're just having some fun," she said with a shrug. "It's okay, Nate's there." Oh, because everything was okay when Nate was there. I kept my mouth shut, though, knowing I'd be in major trouble by Lyssa when she heard about it. Besides, they were probably going to leave him alone now...

"I wanted to apologize," I said slowly, "for everything." I held my hand out to her. "May I have this dance?" This was going to be really awkward if she decided not to forgive me.
Noel
I brought my hand up to my face to touch the area around my eye, where he'd hit, and I almost visibly cringed. God, it hurt just to touch it! So first I get sent to hell for a charge dying and now I have to deal with complete idiots like these? Man, you don't do anything half-assed... "Obviously," I muttered to them, taking a step back. "Last I checked, three against one isn't exactly fair." There was literally nothing I could do except stand here and get my ass handed to me. I didn't work out enough to actually have muscles, just enough to stay in shape, I couldn't use my powers since they didn't know about them, and if I tried to run, they could easily catch up with me. I was barely able to keep my eyes their normal color right now; they were practically threatening to change red, which would definitely give me away. I didn't want to stand here and let it happen, so I brought my fist back to punch Steven in the face. I'd never been very good at fistfights, though, and I had a sick feeling in my stomach telling me that this was going to end up hurting me more than helping me. It also pretty much sucked that there was no one here to help. She was, but I was hardly a speck on her radar. The redhead and that other guy were gone, too, and so was the guy that had sat with me at lunch. I was basically screwed.

I couldn't help but smile as I placed my hand in his, "You may." I hadn't been expecting any of this, and now I wasn't even sure how I could have decided to break up with him in the first place. Damn confusing feelings.
Nate
I let out a sigh, "You shouldn't have done that." Now there was no way I couldn't get involved in this mess. Steven was my friend, which I had to prove by slamming my fist towards his stomach roughly, Julian helping.
Josie
I shut my eyes tightly when Nate and Julian decided to start beating the guy up with Steven. It was bad enough with just one of them! I didn't even know him, but I hated when other people hurt each other, especially without a reason. "Tasha, make them stop," I pleaded, barely opening my eyelids to look in her direction. She just stared at me in disbelief, "Are you telling me you're defending Noel Hart?" I shook my head, "No, I'm not. I'm defending my stomach, which is Nate's fault since he's supposed to be taking us all out to eat." "Fine," she muttered as she stood up, obviously not happy to break up the fight she'd found so entertaining. Well, I didn't care. "Nate," Tasha called sweetly as we reached the guys. "Josie's hungry and throwing a bitch fit." He let go of Noel, looking over to me. "... I don't even know what a bitch fit is, but I guess that's bad?" I nodded quickly, "Except... I... I forgot my water bottle." Tasha raised an eyebrow, "You're holding it." "... My sunglasses." "... Wow," Steven remarked, completely ignoring the fact they'd just been beating someone up in front of us. "Fine, go get them and we'll meet you at the car."

I smiled and led her a bit away from the car - more like, in the middle of the clearing - and placed my hands on her waist. "It was wrong of me to assume that you'd do something like that, and I should really know better than to listen to rumors by now. So... yeah." I'd already apologized, and more than the... three?... times I'd already done so was definitely overkill.
Noel
Suddenly, two fists slammed into my stomach and I couldn't breathe. I almost threw up, but avoided it. Sadly, with the way my stomach was feeling right now, I almost would've rathered throwing up. And then... they stopped. By now, I was laying on the ground, the wind knocked out of me and definitely sporting a black eye, so I saw when Tasha walked over to them and asked them to go. She was following Tasha, and I nearly began smiling like an idiot, but then I caught myself and remembered that this was probably a dream anyways. I was probably still getting my ass kicked, and she wasn't actually here. I pinched myself to double-check, but I felt it, and then I stared after the retreating football players and Tasha in astonishment, then looked back to her with the same look. I scrambled for something to say, but I pretty much hurt everywhere by now, so it was just a surprise my brain could even think.

"Alright, I forgive you," I told him with a laugh as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

I knelt down next to Noel cautiously. He probably didn't even know who I was, so what if he thought I was just going to slap him or something. Instead, I held my cold water bottle against his eye as I frowned. "... Are you okay?"

I grinned at her hopefully. "Really?" I honestly didn't know why I liked her so much. She was nothing like Liz, and I was probably too emotionally unavailable to date anyone. Or was it emotionally damaged? Jeez, I should stop while I was ahead... but, y'know, that's what being a selfish bastard gets you. I didn't want to give Alyssa up. With her was the happiest I'd felt in a while.
Noel
I gaped at her for a few moments before I realized she was expecting an answer. And putting her cold water bottle up to my eye. I opened my mouth to speak, but words wouldn't come out. Vocal cords, you weren't even damaged, so get your shit together and do something. "I'm... yeah, I'll be fine." I was mostly freaking out that the girl I'd had a crush on since my eighth grade year was talking to me when she'd never even seemed to notice me before. Not that I was going to tell her that. God, I hoped those imbeciles from the football team didn't.

I nodded again, not really sure what I was supposed to say back. I liked Isaiah a lot, but I didn't have a reason why. He was... Different from most of the guys at school. I also wasn't sure if it was a good different or a bad different... After all, he had ended up in some gang war or something at his house, and I'd already gotten threatened by one of his 'friend's. You'd think I would have been scared off by now.
Josie
I frowned slightly as I handed him the water bottle. "Here, keep it." He didn't look okay, but I couldn't really stay and help him home considering I only had a few minutes left before everyone decided I got lost or something. I touched below his eye with my fingertips, wincing slightly. "Maybe you should get that checked out...." I wasn't sure how you were supposed to fix a black eye, but it looked really bad. "... Sorry about my friends, we're not all like that." Though I had to wonder if maybe I was just weird, since nobody else seemed to care. Oh well, he could think what he wanted.

I smiled down at her, trying to think of something else to say. "Thank you," I said, instead of asking her if she was alright. The thing that had come to mind was her accident earlier, and I didn't think she'd be very fond of my bringing it up.
Noel
I took the water bottle gratefully, and forced myself to sit out, barely keeping in a surprised gasp at the pain in my stomach. Okay, I didn't think it'd hurt that bad. And things were made worse when she touched my black eye; not that I minded all that much. Then I shook my head. "It'll heal," I murmured. It always did. That was probably what pissed the football players off about me - any wounds they'd given me that weren't that bad usually healed in about a day. She said that not all of her friends were like that, and I found myself nodding a bit. "Things probably wouldn't be very pleasant if you were," I remarked, smiling faintly up at her. Funny how you could have a huge crush on someone because of how they looked, and then you found out that they were actually a good person, too.
