"Would you rather we let you lie there and die?" I asked her with a frown. "I'm not dead right now, am I?" "Because of Harmony's mom!" She just rolled her eyes, going back to sitting down on the couch. "Whatever." "That's her way of saying thanks," I told Noel, smirking slightly. She could pretend she was okay all she wanted, but her face was still extremely pale. Even for her. I just wasn't sure what we were supposed to do now...

Noel just shrugged. "I don't care if she says thanks or not. I'm just glad that that..." he paused, almost saying something else until I shot him a warning look, "sickness thing seems to be going away." I raised my eyebrows at him curiously. "What are you, anyways? You said you'd explain," I pointed out; Isaiah looked like he wanted to know, too. Jay was the only one that seemed unconcerned from his spot in the chair. "Long story short, I'm a fallen angel."

I glanced back over at them, and noticed Blaze's eyes widening, like he was trying to decide whether or not it was actually possible. "That would explain why you're not exactly a pocketful of sunshine," I remarked sarcastically. I couldn't believe he would actually think that we'd fall for that!

"Exactly. That's the regular angels," I said in a flat voice. I could tell she obviously didn't believe me, but hey, it wasn't my problem. They'd asked, I'd told. "Not the guardian angels?" the redhead asked me quietly. I turned to glance at her and raised an eyebrow. "No, not the guardian angels. Does that mean you believe in them?" "I guess I kind of have to now, don't I?" "I'm not going to force you," I said with a shrug. "Some believe, some don't. That's the way it is."

"Were your parents fallen angels or something, then?" I asked slowly. Alyssa crossed her arms, smirking slightly. "Alright, Noel. If you're really a 'fallen angel'," she paused to make air quotes around the words, "then prove it. Summon ghosts or something."

I folded my arms and shook my head at Blaze. I then looked at Lyssa curiously. "There are rules, you know..." "And you can't break them just once?" the redhead pressed. I made a face. "This is gonna bite me in the ass later," I muttered, snapping my fingers so a portal appeared. I thought about bringing Gabriel out, but then I remembered that I hated his guts and it wasn't like he'd go back if I did. "Cole," I called instead; one of the lesser demons that actually looked like a demon. In seconds, he'd appeared and he was looking around in wonder. "Merry Christmas," I told Alyssa, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Can I send it back now?"

I have to admit, I was pretty freaked out by this Cole guy, but seeing Alyssa fall backwards off the other side of the couch in an attempt to get away from it? I'd honestly never seen her more terrified in her life. "Get rid of it!" she screamed.

"Well, you heard her," I said, glancing back to Cole, who started to take off. I directed my power at him so he flew back into the portal instead. I snapped my fingers then, and it shut. With any luck, they'd get pissed that he'd been out enough to put him in the torture chamber this time. He needed it.

I stayed on the floor, inching closer to the wall. I'd seen a lot of stuff that definitely wasn't human, but this... This definitely topped the list. I kept my eyes on where the black hole or whatever had been, too scared to actually move in case that thing came back.

"Oh, Lucifer," I muttered under my breath, approaching her cautiously. Her other friends still looked rather... scared shitless. I knelt down next to her. "Hey. He won't be back," I told her gently, trying to get her to calm down. He wouldn't. Unless, of course, of the other angels or Lucifer himself decided that Cole just had to be here. I had confidence that they wouldn't so such a thing.

"You promise me?" I asked in a whisper, though I wasn't entirely sure why I was asking in the first place. Trusting Noel definitely wasn't very high on my list of priorities for my life. Why couldn't he have just been the psychotic loner everyone at school seemed to think he was?!

I nodded slowly. "I promise." Hell, she could even ask her redheaded friend if she wanted. Knowing everyone's powers was an advantage that came with being a dark angel, though I couldn't do what the redhead's mom could. I hadn't had the first idea of how to get the weird darkness out of her mind.

I nodded a bit, slowly standing up. Nobody else was saying anything, and I felt incredibly awkward being next to Noel all by myself. "I... I think I'm gonna go home," I mumbled as I walked back outside, shutting the door behind me. Something was obviously wrong when I couldn't think of anything sarcastic to say to anyone.

I grimaced as the redhead shot me a dirty look and headed after her. I shot her one that obviously asked what else I was supposed to do. "Well..." the guy that had sat with me at lunch remarked, putting his hands in his pockets. "I should get home, then." I ran a hand through my hair and walked outside without another word. I knew I should get home. Granted, no one was there waiting for me, but that happened when they all died centuries ago.

"I need to go get my homework assignments," I muttered as I checked the time on my cellphone. "I'm assuming no one else wants to come?" Something told me Harmony was the only person here who might actually care, but she was still occupied with Alyssa, who'd already gone inside Mom's house.
Alyssa
Once I'd finally managed to get to my room, I let myself crash on the bed, then curled up under the covers. So many things had happened today that I wasn't even sure what to do with myself. I almost wanted to scream, but then someone would magically appear in my bedroom and start talking gibberish about dark matter in my head. You'd think I was Anakin Skywalker or something! I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do now. Sure, I was supposed to be 'resting', but I didn't actually want to. When things used to go wrong, I could call Nate. Somehow I doubted that would help my situation at all. Nate wasn't the same person he used to be. He wasn't worth missing.

I followed Lyss inside and nervously knocked on her door. I didn't want to smother her, but I had to know she was okay. I mean, it wasn't like I wasn't scared shitless after what Noel had just done, too.

"What do you want?" I muttered loud enough so the person on the other side of the door could hear. If it was that Noel kid, I was going to scream at him to go away. It wouldn't even be my fault! He wasn't helping me feel sane at all with his demon calling, and then he decides to be nice to me and try to calm me down. I didn't even know he knew what the meaning of nice meant. The guy was just plain weird.

"I don't care," I called back as I rolled over to my side. I was too lazy to actually get out of bed and open the door for her. Besides, she was probably just going to give me a lecture to stay away from school for the rest of the day.

I sat up, wrapping my arms around my knees. "I -" Could I really make myself admit it? "No. I miss Nate. I don't even know what I'm saying! And I'm definitely getting tired of this whole 'You're being a whore or you're sleeping with my best friend or you're being weird so I'm gonna go' situation with Isaiah. It's like a rewind button is the only thing that's going to fix our whole relationship of a day."

I bit my lip when she mentioned Nate. I wanted to tell her to stay away from him, because he was bad news, but she already knew that, and it wasn't like Lyss would listen to what I said anyways. She'd always been that way - doing whatever she wanted instead of what other people thought she should do. It was one of the things I admired about her. So, instead, I wrapped her in a hug. "Then break up with him?" I suggested. Honestly, I wasn't sure if they were dating or not after everything that had seemed to happen. Our lives had way too much drama.

I hugged her back as I frowned slightly, "You know... Maybe that's actually a good idea." It wasn't like I planned on getting back with Nate or anything, I knew better. But if it obviously wasn't working out, there wasn't any point in still going out with Isaiah if things were just going to get worse.

I let go and pulled away, nodding. "Either that or try and give it another chance to work things out. Sometimes people just need another chance," I said and shrugged a bit. Other times, they don't, I thought bitterly to myself as Brian popped up in my mind. He'd used up all his chances and they'd obviously gotten him nowhere, so he didn't deserve another one, in my opinion.

I shook my head, "I'm pretty sure the "try to work things out" thing would have counted as this morning until he decided to ask me if I slept with Finn. ... Where is he anyways? What if he thinks we were taking him home? He doesn't even know anyone there!"

I shrugged a bit, not bothering to point out that Josie had told Isaiah that Finn and Alyssa slept together. I didn't know if she knew it or not, but it probably wasn't worth bringing up. "He was still at lunch when we left. Josie and Crystelle are with him."

I stepped in the locker rooms, still in awe of all I managed to get Mom to actually let me out of the house to go to cheerleading practice in the first place. Josie and Tasha were already there and getting dressed, but we were early, so the other cheerleaders weren't even here yet. I waved slightly, getting changed into my uniform.

"And you... enjoy this?" Dempsey asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion while we sat on the bleachers. "Tackling your fellow coƩquipiers to the ground?" "Normally we tackle the other team to the ground. And I have no idea what that word is," I replied, tying my shoes. I didn't mention that sometimes the guys on my team needed it too. When I looked up, Dempsey had this grin on his face that made it pretty obvious that he was up to no good. "What?" I asked slowly. "Oh, nothing, mon ami," he said innocently, looking around. When it hit me, I made a face. "Okay, it is nothing like that. I'm straight, Dempsey." "Oui, oui, but you're not making a very good case for yourself!" he exclaimed with a laugh. I just shook my head in disbelief and put him in a playful headlock.
