Blaise
I nodded. "Let's get going, then," I said, ushering the girl (who looked beyond confused) back into the car and getting into the front with Hanley, who took the drivers' seat. He honked the horn and I looked at him in horror; what was he doing? "Just wait," he said. "I promise we won't get in trouble." "It's not trouble I'm worried about," I hissed, "it's Vladimir." He shot me a confident grin. "He won't show up until he can't catch us."

This time, I was one of the first people back in the car. I leaned forward, covering my face with my hands for just a moment. What was I doing saving some human? What made her so special? Why did I chose to spare her and not the other hundreds of people I'd slaughtered?
Xavier
I was laying down on a park bench as I heard the car honk. I quickly got up, threw my backpack over my shoulder and walked toward the spot I knew they were at. When I reached the car I almost jumped in, closing the door behind me. "Well, hello."

Blaise
I whirled around to see the newcomer, and I looked between him and Hanley. "What are you doing?" I asked as he pressed down on the gas pedal and the limo began to move. He shot me an innocent look. "I'm helping. Xavier owes me, anyways." "Uh huh." "Relax, beautiful. Have I done you wrong before?" I arched an eyebrow at him. "You don't want me to answer that."
Mikah
By now, my head was spinning. Had this seriously just gone from a kidnapping to a rescue mission... with some of the same people?

"And when this is over, we're even," I said as I put my backpack in my lap. "So is she the one we're rescuing or is she the pre-dinner snack?" I asked as I took a look at the girl.

Okay, maybe I'd gotten excited and this was still a kidnapping. The blonde girl looked at him doubtfully, like she didn't trust him. "She's the one we're rescuing."

"Oh," said the new guy and leaned back in his seat. I gave him a weird look, but I looked at Blaise instead. "All of this was planned?" I asked her.

"It was a precaution. It didn't turn into a plan until this morning."

"So, where are we going now?" I asked. For a moment I wondered if Vlad had noticed we were gone yet. I shot a glance at the girl, she looked just as confused as I was.

Hanley
"A safe - "
Mikah
"What the hell is going on?" I exclaimed suddenly. "I mean... I'm so confused. First I get kidnapped, travel to Russia, and then you pop up in my dreams" - I pointed to the blonde girl - "and then the next thing I know, we're going somewhere else to do something and I don't even know what it is, and now we've ditched the creepy guy and we're going somewhere else and I don't know any of you!" I realized that I sounded sort of frantic - okay, really frantic - but I didn't know what was going on. I pointed to the guy beside me. "Except for him. I know him. Sort of." He was the only familiar face out of the four other people in this limo, and if he suddenly decided to leave too, I'd be surrounded by unfamiliarity and I didn't know what I'd do. Funny how just a day or two before, I'd been threatening his life.

I decided to shut my mouth, but the entire car filled with silence after the girl's outburst. She was right to be upset, I suppose. I was confused even, I bet she was overwhelmed. "Well, we're saving you now," the new guy said. "So just relax."

I took a deep breath and nodded slowly. Well, at least I sort of knew what was going on. But still... Jesus Christ, I just wanted to be home. "Uh... I hate to add to the confusion, but does anyone else think that car looks familiar?" the guy driving us asked uncertainly, jabbing a finger to the car behind us. The blonde girl cursed under her breath, and I saw her fist clench. "What should we do?" the driver questioned, glancing over to her. She stared at him in disbelief. "What should we - I thought you were the one with the plans!" "For getting us the hell out. I got nothing after that." She cursed again, then looked forward. "Lead him somewhere secluded that's not near the safehouse. Then I'll take care of him," she said bitterly. "... Blaise, are you sure?" the guy asked cautiously. The blonde just nodded. "This is something I've been needing to do for a while now, anyways."

Xavier
The moody guy with the emo-hair looked up at the blond girl, but he didn't say anything. Instead his eyes darted toward the human and his expression hardened. "We've already risked everything for you," I said to the human, "We're going to get the job done, no matter what. We have to."

"But - " "He's right, sweetheart. We've come this far. We can't stop now. And we won't," said the blonde girl. Which didn't really help me feel any better. They were probably risking everything for me, and they didn't even know me! Why?

"Might as well," I said slowly. "Right, so don't worry. We'll die trying to protect you, if it comes to that, so you won't go down alone at least," the new guy said cheerfully. I kept my mouth shut, not knowing if I wanted to object or what. Would I risk my life for her? I looked at the girl, but just for a moment. Probably not. I hadn't done so for anyone else in my life, why should I do it for her?

"If we've all learned one thing these last few days it is that you don't really have a choice," I said, glaring at her before looking out the window again. "If we look past the murky attitute, he does have a point," the new guy said and nodded.

"Okay. It's your choice, I guess," I murmured, keeping my eyes on the floor of the place. Just when I looked up, the car had careened into an alley, and the blonde girl was getting out of the car. The driver stayed inside.

"Oh, no," I murmured. The new guy quickly opened his back pack, picking up a bunch of different stakes. He picked one and then he jumped out of the care, following Blaise.

"What are you - " I started to ask the other guy, then shook my head. "Can I have one of those?" I asked, gesturing to the stakes he had.
Mikah
"What's going on?" I asked with wide eyes. The driver just hushed me.

I sat absolutely still as I tried to see what was happening, but somehow I had a feeling of what was going to happen.
Xavier
I walked up to Blaise, sticking the stake in my back-pocket and handing her a spare one.

Blaise
"Thanks," I muttered, stowing it in my back pocket. That was when Vladimir passed by the alleyway, then paused at the mouth, looking in. "I could smell you, dear. That body wash is delightful," he said mockingly. I smiled faintly. "You and I both know this isn't about my body wash." "Of course not. So you and your friend are here to kill me?" he asked, gesturing to the guy beside me. Xavier, Hanley had called him. "Perhaps we are." He scoffed. "Perhaps. You're deluding yourself, you know. She's not your daughter and she never will be." "I know that. But I won't fail at protecting another innocent girl," I said defiantly. In seconds, Vladimir had me pinned by the throat against the wall. "Betrayal hurts even more when it's from the one you trusted most," he hissed. "Did you know that?" I squirmed against his grip, but decided not to answer him. Instead, I whispered the words that I'd spoken years ago, when he was first turning me. "Kiss me or kill me; your choice." He stared at me for a very brief moment before he kissed me harshly on the lips, then let me fall to the ground. I got quickly back up, but he was now looking between Xavier and myself. "You won't win," he told me with one of his "we have a secret" smiles.

"In case you didn't notice," I said through gritted teeth. "We're very determined. And don't you know that evil never wins?"
Ivan
Suddenly, Vlad had Blaise pinned to the ground. "Stay in the car," I screamed at Mikah as I jumped out, too, and walked toward Blaise and the others with big steps.

"Three against one?" Vladimir asked. "Well, that's hardly fair. Blaise, dear, if you just gave me the girl, we could avoid these unpleasantries." "Go to hell," I said, crossing my arms. He shrugged and leapt for Xavier, tackling him to the ground.

I was thrown back on the ground as the guy attacked me. I managed to get the stake out from my pocket but he slapped it out of my hand before I could use it on him. Suddenly, he was thrown off me and he was thrown in the air and landed a few feet away.
Ivan
I felt my entire body crouching down as I had thrown Vlad off the new guy. I turned to him and quickly helped him up before Vlad could even get to his feet.

Vladimir
I coughed a bit and straightened up, glaring a bit at Ivan. Apparently I'd underestimated them. Except for Blaise. I knew she'd probably be the easiest to get rid of. Not that I wanted to, granted. I loved her. But it was quite obvious now that she'd rather kill me than anything else. My suspicions were further proved when she lunged for me, but I dodged her and threw her against the wall. I headed for the two boys, then, but stopped when I saw the girl and walked for her instead. This was almost too easy. I'd get her and be out there before they even fully realized what was happening.
Mikah
The driver let out a groan when I opened the car door and started to get out. "What are you - No! Get - oh, Jesus Christ, I'm dead meat." I ignored him and stood by the end of the car, waiting until the other vampire noticed me. When he did, he faced me and started walking. Funny. He thought I was going down without a fight. I gripped the stake in my hand harder. His friend that apparently had betrayed him had left a few in the car, so I'd grabbed one. Now I was holding it behind my back - he probably didn't even realize I had one. Once he got close enough, he lunged for me, but I ducked and rolled out of the way, then got to my feet. He raised an eyebrow, but watched me closely. "The princess thinks she can fight. What a laugh," he said mockingly. Ignoring him, I eyed his chest, locating exactly where his heart would be. This time, when he lunged for me, I brought the stake up, aimed quickly, and landed it right in his heart. His eyes were wide as he fell to his knees. "What...?" But he didn't get to finish his sentence.

I didn't say a sound as Vlad fell to the ground and then seemed to transform in to a pile of dust. I looked at the girl and took a few steps toward her. "Are you okay?" I asked her.

I nodded slowly, staring at the pile of dust. "Well, I'm still here and I'm not a pile of dust on the ground. I'd say so," I murmured, retrieving the stake from the pile. I held it at my side, but not at the ready. I didn't want any of them to think I was going to kill them.

"Guess so," I agreed, staring at the new girl for a few moments. "Why did no one mention that she was a hunter?" I asked finally. Vladimir hadn't said a goddamned thing about it. Not that it really changed matters, but I was curious. Here I was, trying to protect her when all I probably would've had to do was give her a stake and let her protect herself. Made things easier, I guess, but even a hunter's luck would run out eventually.

I shrugged. "I don't know if Vlad knew. But I wasn't gonna give her a weapon anyway. Then I'd be dead."
