I lead the way through a narrrow and winding path and stopped in front of a big barn. I hopped off Charlie and handed Levi the reins. "Be right back," I called over my shoulder as I ran through the aisle and into Coppers stall.

I ambled up onto Charlie's back and waited for Bridget. "So where to after this?" Constance asked.
I shrugged. "Somewhere safe is my guess."

"Hence the word safe. That's pretty much what it means. But if you're going to stick with us, you're going to have to learn how to fight, and I want no disturbances. So we should probably pick you up a weapon."
Constance arched an eyebrow at me. "You're really going to stick around under the king's nose long enough to get her a weapon? Couldn't we just go somewhere else?"
I flashed her a broad smile. "This way's more fun!" I said, dashing off towards the shops.

I stopped outside of the weapons shop as Constance caught up. "You wouldn't happen to have any gold on you, would you?"
She nodded a bit. "I'm not sure if it's enough to buy a weapon, though. Can't you just steal it?"
"Buying's quicker to get out from under the king's nose," I mocked.
Constance just rolled her eyes at me and handed me a little bag of gold.

"Dresses are a hassle," I muttered as we went into the shop. Mostly I just didn't want to get caught. Well, and dresses were just hell to try and fight in.
"Maybe she wants to look pretty," Levi said with a grin. "Sure thing, love," he added to Bridget. I rolled my eyes. He was getting way too doting on her.

I just watched as the owner came bumbling over, then froze, pointing at me. "You're... you're..."
"Oh, relax. We have a request. Do as she says and no one gets hurt," I said nonchalantly as the woman looked over to Bridget and nodded slightly, waiting for orders.
