I contemplated that for a bit, then murmured, "I don't really know what other jobs I could take on. Anything that would bring in more income, for sure." Realizing I was hinting at me going broke, I added, "The more the better, of course."

Andy
I pulled out a cigarette from my back pocket, lighting it and taking a long drag. I started walking towards the casino near the edge of town. I liked to get wasted there...you could just have a good time without any worries, and forget about everything bad...that's the best part of going there. I winced as I remembered Danni...what was going to happen to our baby? Not ours, hers, I corrected myself.

"If you want real fun then you have to leave town, theres no neeed to go far though," I pointed over the horizen. "Right over there is a casino and a night club in the next town over."

Ella

I thought about it. Just in the next town? Hell, it was tempting, but...last time I was in a big city, I was nearly arrested again. I didn't know whether risking it was a good idea or not.

She looked a little apprehensive at the idea of going over to the next town. "Something wrong with the city?" I asked with raised eyebrows.

Maybe if I kept a low profile... "Nothing's wrong with it," I answered, shaking my head. "Just don't like big crowds of people." Just don't like big crowds of police, more like it.

My eyebrows remained raised, but I let the subject drop. "Yeah, big crowds of people sort of do ruin the fun. Though the city gets pretty empty come winter time."

Ella

"Winter time, eh?" If there were less people in the city during Winter, there was probably a smaller chance of getting caught. And that was always a good thing.

"Yeah, come winter time the whole city pretty much emptys out." I looked around the area that we were standing. "But if you really don't like big crowds," I raised my arms, "Then you'll have to deal with this kind of clean fun until then."

Rayne

"Well..." I shrugged. "What d'you like to do? I mean... I'm a substitute teacher from time to time, so I could help you look for jobs when I've got some free time," I offered.

Dawn

I reached the casino and immediately went to the pool table, putting on my innocent face and hustling them pretty good after not too long. Well, at least I wasn't too rusty.

"Damn," I said with a sigh.

"Do...right now I'm a Literature major. Maybe something along those lines?" I offered, biting my bottom lip.

Andy
As I reached the casino, I threw the cigarette bud on the ground, crushing it with my heel. I walked in the casino and sat at the bar near the pool table. "Cucumber martini, heavy on the rum," I said softly. All I needed was to get drunk right now.

After hustling a few more people, I headed to the bar and told the guy I just wanted something with alcohol, didn't matter what. I looked at the other guy there and sat down. "Trying to forget something?" I asked wryly.

Rayne

I thought for a moment. "Literature... like... so you're good with words... so you could maybe try and write a song? Or a book? And maybe you'll... get noticed or something. I know it's a lot to hope for, but hey, it's worth a shot..."

I glanced at the girl next to me. "Suppose so...that's what alcohol is used for, right?" I said, grinning sheepishly. I ran a hand through my hair, muttering, "The name's Andy."

Eileen
"I guess it is..." I murmured. "I love writing. Maybe I'll try a book? Something to do in my spare time..." I trailed off, lost in thought.

Rayne

"Well, I'll pick you up, um... when, tomorrow?"

Dawn

I shrugged. "Or boredom. I'm Dawn."

"Sure...that would be better than me getting lost. We can bring Bree and you can drop her off at your friend's house...is that cool?"

Andy
My drink arrived, and I took a long swig. I sighed in content, my eyes narrowing slightly in enjoyment. "Where ya from, Dawn?"

Dawn

"Originally?" I asked, eyebrows raised inquiringly. "Las Vegas. You?" I gulped down some of the alcohol, blinking a few times so that I could see again.

Rayne

I nodded, forgetting that she couldn't see me. Then I blushed at my stupidity. "Yeah, that'll work," I answered. "Can you send me directions?"

Ella

I frowned. I guess I'd have to deal with clean fun for the time being.

"So...what do you like to do, when it comes to 'Clean fun'?"

Eileen
"Oh. Oh sure, of course...well, actually, it's not too hard. You know the side of town where all of the rundown apartments are? Yeah, I live over there. You can just park somewhere on the street...just don't get out of the car. It's...not that safe over there." I sighed. The neighborhood sure sucked, and I was already afraid to let Bree go play outside. I didn't need a possibility of somebody else getting hurt.

Andy
"Vegas. Nice. I came from Detroit." I closed my eyes, memories returning. I snapped out of them before I remembered what I was trying to forget. I chugged the remains of the martini and raised my glass. "More please!" I shouted to the bartender. "I'll take anything."

Dawn

I just nodded, unsure of what to say after this, so I drank my... whatever it was in silence.

Rayne

"Alright. I'll honk the horn or something."

I looked at my drink, stirring it around a bit...mmm, a Hurricane. I sipped it and felt the giddiness run through me. A few more of these and I will be completely senseless. "So, what was it like living in Detroit?" I said, fighting back a giggle. Jeez, these bartenders know what a guy needs.

I sighed with relief. "Okay. I'll see you at noon tomorrow then?"

"Yup," I said, smiling as I hung up the phone and headed back to my house.

Dawn

I gave him a confused look. I'd never lived in Detroit... had I? "I can't remember," I told him, grinning. I felt great. So great that I needed another beer. "Bartender, I need another one," I slurred, smiling angelically at him.

"Read, I guess," I answered, tapping my book that was in my small bag.

"Reading? Is that really all? I would've guessed that you'd be more of a swimmer, or a bowler, or something like that," I said with a smile.

Oops. This alcohol was confusing me...ah, Hurricanes are so good. I raised the glass. "Another please!" I called drunkenly. I tried hard to listen to the wavering music sounds coming from the speakers..."Ah. I didn't know they played old stuff here," I said, grinning, then stuck my head back and sang the song that was on. "Some people call me the space cowboy!"

I just looked at him like he was crazy. Tone-deaf and drunk was never a good combination. I decided not to say anything, though; at this point, I probably wasn't much better. I drank the next bottle of alcohol anyways, though. Yes, bottle. When the bartender started to pour it, I took the bottle and gave him twenty bucks, then started downing it.
Huh. Maybe Zack had actually been being serious when he told me I got crazy when I started drinking. Nah.

I chuckled, peeking up at Dawn from under my lashes. "You might want to let up. We don't want two over-the-top drunk people stumbling around here, now do we?"

"I'm not drunk," I slurred, shaking my head.
