"Alrighty then," I said, heading out the door and going to the park. I sat down on a bench when I got there, wondering why I'd actually come. Part of me wanted to stay with Jamie and Kylie, but they'd be fine without me.

I saw a girl wave at me and realized that she was the vampire I could smell. Well... it couldn't hurt to give her a chance, could it? Zack hadn't been bad, maybe she'd be like him. I walked over and sat next to her. "Hey. If you can take the smell, I'm Jason," I said with a wry smile.
