Of course I had to write a fanfiction involving Sin. Enjoy. xD
Protégé of Seduction
Protégé of Seduction
I walked through the front door of the house, knowing it was late and I'd be in trouble. I just had to hope that Mom and Dad were asleep. Well, and Sin. I'd been out with my best friend, but since that was Dice, I knew he'd jump to conclusions, and we didn't like each other like that. I shut the door as I crept through, taking one last glance at the starry, cool night. When I turned around, I jumped. Sin was sitting at the bottom of the stairs, jingling some keys in his hand.
"Busted," he told me in a singsongy voice, his face breaking into a wide grin as he stood up. "You owe me, kiddo. I covered for you," he added nonchalantly, heading for the door and opening it once more. "Now c'mon."
"What?" I gaped at him. "First off, what's my story? What was I doing?"
He sighed. "Late night history project with Her Royal Highness." Sin was pretending to sound exasperated with me, but his gray eyes were laughing, and it gave him away. While Sin could lie or act with the best of them, if you looked into his eyes close enough, he couldn't ever hide his amusement. And lying or acting? Well, it amused him. It wasn't like he was a compulsive liar; he just liked to do it sometimes - see if anyone could figure out that he actually was lying. Usually, they couldn't. Oftentimes I'd overheard him tell women he was twenty-one, but in reality, he was only eighteen.
"Right." I nodded, following after him as he walked out the door. "Now, where are we going?"
"We're going to a bar, and you're paying me back. Er... well, technically, I'm helping you, but... you won't like it at first." Sinclair grinned at me as I eyed him warily. What on earth did he have up his sleeve? All I knew was that he was right; it was at first, and so far, I wasn't liking this. Anything that involved someone being taken somewhere they didn't know by Sin and he was grinning - well, usually it only happened to girls, and it ended up with them waking up in some bed, naked and alone. That was Sin for you. Ever since Cecilia left and he'd gotten over his depression (or found a new way to cope... whatever), Sin had been a total manwhore. I had to wonder how he did it - managed to get girls to like him and... do everything else they did with him... even if they knew about his reputation. It was a goddamn mystery to me, that was for sure.
I sighed and glanced over to him. "Have I told you I hate you?"
Sin just smirked. "Not today."
The rest of the ride was silent as we left the country-ish part of Rosefalls and headed into the city. Tall buildings, a park, short buildings, the school, the library, a liquor store, a bar, five different fast food places, a strip club, something I was pretty sure was a brothel, and finally, another bar, though not all necessarily in that order or close to each other. Sin pulled over to park in front of that last bar, and got out of the car, heading for the front door. He disappeared through the front door as I stared incredulously after him, then realized I should probably follow; these were parts I hadn't really been near before, and Sinclair seemed to know his way around. I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt and ran inside after him, spotting him chatting up the woman bartender.
Scanning the place, I slowly walked over to him, averting my eyes and blushing slightly when some giggly girl with a friend waved at me. I reached Sin and went to open my mouth to say something, but he interrupted me. "Kialish!" he said grandly, throwing an arm around my shoulder and smiling broadly at the woman in front of him. "Ki, this is Erica. Erica, this is my little brother, Kialish."
Erica smiled and extended a hand, which I shook. Of course, she was beautiful. Sin wouldn't talk to her if she wasn't. Erica had shoulder-length, light brown hair with a black streak near the front, on the left side of her head, and her eyes were... brown? No, no... not brown. They were hazel; a mix of blue, green, and they were just mostly brown. Just then, some other guy took a seat at the bar, and Erica walked over to him, leaving me standing with Sin. "So... what now? I don't suppose you actually had a plan when you dragged your fifteen-year-old brother to a bar?" I asked him in an undertone.
He just laughed and led me over to the jukebox, sticking some money in and browsing through the songs. "Of course I actually had a plan, little brother. I am going to teach you the art of women. Or, more specifically, the art of how to get to women." That ever-present mischievous twinkle that was always in his eyes these days was even brighter right now, and I noticed myself take a step back.
I let out a nervous laugh. "But, I, uh... I don't wanna... get to women, Sin. It's not like... it's not like they're toys or something."
Sin rolled his eyes and put his arm around my shoulders again, leading me over to a place in the bar that was slightly less well-lit. "You have so much to learn, little brother, and so little time. Women are toys. Because, y'know what? If they're not, they'll make you their toy. Capicé?" He looked so condescending right now, but it wasn't like I could deny that Sin knew more about what sort of things happened with women than I did.
"Sure, Sin. Whatever you say," I mumbled, keeping my eyes trained on the ground. I knew that Sin was likely up to something bad involving women, and I really didn't want to be part of it. I respected women, and lately, it didn't seem like Sin had any idea how to do that, so I'd rather stay out of any of his schemes.
When I looked back up, sure enough, Sin was already headed back over to the bar, where there was a girl and two of her friends seated and giggling with each other. Some guys might mind the fact there were three girls there and chicken out. Not Sin. He strutted over there with more confidence than the founder of Playboy magazine. Not that I would know about that magazine... Err, moving on.
I hesitated when I thought about following him. It was likely safer over here; less giggling girls, shameless flirting, and suave charming. It wasn't like Sinclair would let me alone over here anyways. It was probably better to just follow after him now, instead of staying here. He wanted me to watch and learn, I knew that much, and if I did that now, it would save more women from Sin's shameless charm in the long run. I knew if I didn't follow, he'd just find a few more girls and attempt (and likely succeed) in charming them. I let out a sigh and reluctantly trudged over to him and the girls, keeping my mouth shut.
"... taking a poll," Sin was explaining with one of his dazzling smiles. The girl he was directing his words to had long brown hair, which was thrown up into an elegant ponytail, and light blue eyes. She was thin, but not too thin. Gorgeous. And practically a dead ringer for Cecilia. I decided to keep this fact to myself, though, because I knew it would change his mood like that. "In your own - I imagine, seasoned opinion - do you think nice guys really do finish last?" Seasoned? He was laying it on thick, wasn't he?
The brunette smiled slightly at him, but also blushed a bright pink, glancing down at the ground. "I, uh... seasoned? I... haven't dated many guys," she admitted. "I don't have much experience about the nice guys and bad boys. I don't think I'll be much help for your poll." One of her friends nudged her in the side and shot her one of those looks that girls like to exchange in front of guys to confuse them. Or maybe that was just me and my cluelessness with girls. I hated admitting that Sin was right, even if he was my big brother and he was supposed to be right.
Sin just arched an eyebrow, looking absolutely perplexed. He even almost had me fooled, but those girls didn't stand a chance of knowing all he wanted was to teach me by proving a point of how easy it was to get girls to believe him. Even if he did prove said point, though, it wouldn't matter. I didn't have the charisma Sin did, even if he himself hadn't had it since a year ago. "Haven't dated many guys?" he asked, still looking bewildered. "You mean you shot most down when they asked you, am I right?"
Giggling a bit, the girl shook her head, the brown hair quickly whipping around. She was still blushing. "I... They don't usually ask."
Ever the master of trickery and charm, Sin slid a hand over her small, delicate one on the counter without her even noticing. Or, at least, if she had noticed, she was doing a remarkably good job at pretending she hadn't. "I wonder why that is," he remarked thoughtfully. Too late, I realized I'd been paying more attention to Sin than I'd intended, and the other two girls had retreated elsewhere. Well, at least he couldn't try to hit on them, too, that way.
"I - I don't - "
The door to the bar flew open, and all I saw was a flurry of red hair flying about, then heard the woman cursing under her breath and brushing the hair out of her face, irritated. Bright green eyes revealed themselves as she walked over to us and simply looked between Sin and I, none of us saying anything. Sin withdrew his hand from the other girl's, and I noticed her glance over to it as she seemed to realize something was missing. Odd she hadn't noticed that something had been added.
"Ki, I tried calling your house, but no one wanted to pick up the damn phone - you left this behind," the girl said with a wry smile, tossing me my wallet. I caught it and shoved it into my pocket, shooting her a small, thankful smile. Sin just looked between us, his interest piqued. The brunette, on the other hand, appeared to have lost interest, and she got up, wandering off and leaving us to ourselves. She managed to get in a nice glare at the redhead - I should tell you that the redhead's actually my best friend, whose name is Dice - before walking off, though; the glare was simply returned, even more venomous than the brunette's.
"Your sluts are shooting me evil looks again," Dice said, settling onto the barstool the brunette had just left. It didn't take a genius to figure out that her words were directed at Sin, who just shrugged like it didn't concern him, as usual. In all honesty, I had no idea what Dice and Sin thought about each other. Sin flirted with her, but that was normal - Sin flirted with any female that had two legs and breathed. Dice playfully rejected him, and sometimes not so playfully. He was okay with that, but sometimes I swear it looked like she wanted to punch him so hard in the mouth that he wouldn't be able to talk for weeks. I also had no doubt she could do that; Dice was pretty tough.
Shooting her a smile meant to disarm her defenses, Sin waved a hand dismissively. "They probably know that I have eyes only for you," he said slyly, putting his hand on top of Dice's, which was on top of the bar - much as he'd done to the earlier girl. This was different, though - when Sin touched Dice, I felt... annoyed. I wanted him to get his hands off her.
Dice, however, was much quicker than me, considering I was trying to figure things out, and the next thing I knew, she'd withdrawn her hand, let out a very unladylike snort, and rolled her eyes at Sin. "Like how you only had eyes for that blonde you slept with two nights ago?" she asked with a wry smile, in typical blunt Dice fashion. She was giving Sin that look that, whenever she gave it to me, made me feel like I was one of the stupidest people on Earth.
It didn't seem to affect him the same way. Instead, Sinclair just shrugged again and made a face. "I did have eyes only for her!" he insisted, but he was grinning. All three of us knew exactly who was going to win this battle, who would have the last word in this debate.
"That night," Dice reminded him with a scoff. "The next day, you were sniffing at someone new. Like a dog." She glanced around the bar with an arched eyebrow. "What are you two doing here, anyways? Scratch that. Ki, what are you doing here?" She directed her gaze back to me, and I scrambled for something to tell her. 'You know, that's a good question. Sin decided to cover for me and in exchange, he forced me to let him drag me off to a bar'? Somehow I didn't think I should tell her that, even if it was the truth. With no idea of what to do, I looked helplessly over to Sin. Dice was a girl, after all, and even if she wasn't susceptible to his charm, Sin was still a good actor.
Amiably, Sinclair threw an arm around her. Dice grimaced but didn't remove it. He opened his mouth to speak, but she beat him to it. "You have ten seconds to explain and get your arm off me before I forcibly remove it by cutting it off with my pocketknife," she said sweetly, shooting him one of her innocent looks.
Sin blinked a few times, then removed his arm from around her and started to talk. "I decided Ki was way too clueless about alcohol, of course. So I brought him here, and figured I should at least have a good time while he was here," he explained with a vindicated look. "And no cheating," he added, looking at her with a frown.
If you didn't know Dice like we did, you'd be confused, but the thing is that Dice is telepathic. She's a mind reader. In other words, chances are, she knew we were lying and didn't even really have to ask what we were doing here because she was Dice and she already knew. She grinned devilishly at Sin. "Too late," she said in an annoying, singsongy tone.
He made a face and muttered, "Cheap."
"Shall we go home, boys?" she asked, throwing her own arms around our shoulders.
I nodded, but Sin just gaped at her. "No way! We were just getting started! Ki still doesn't know a damn thing about girls and - "
Dice put a finger to his lips, signaling for him to hush, and then she whirled his stool around so he was facing the bar and looking at the array of drinks they had. I shot her a confused look, but she just shook her head. "What the - " Sin started, but she smacked him across the face. Lightly, so it didn't make a sound, but he still made a face.
"Why don't you order something to drink, Sin?" she asked, now standing behind him. Her hands were on his shoulders, and again, I felt something flare up inside me. Jealousy? No, couldn't be. I didn't even feel that way about her. I shook my head, as if to try and clear my thoughts, then raised an eyebrow at Dice as she glanced back, looking somewhere behind me.
Suddenly I understood what she was doing. She was distracting Sin. Somewhere in the back of my head, I'd heard a girl's loud giggling, but I'd deemed it unimportant and blocked it out while I tried to figure out what Dice was scheming. The girl that was giggling loudly... well, there was no mistaking it. The curly, long brown hair, the dark blue eyes, the flawless ivory skin... Cecilia was here. And she was with some other guy. I turned away, not wanting her to see me, because she might assume Sin was here. I presumed that she knew how he'd gone to pieces when she ended things between them, and honestly? I hated her for it. I wanted my brother back, not this womanizing manwhore that didn't have any feelings or care about anyone else, and she'd done this to him.
"Yeah, Sin, you should get something to drink," I chimed in, nodding.
Curious, he managed to wrench himself out of Dice's steel grip on his shoulders and stand up before either of us could stop him. By watching his face, I knew he'd seen Cecilia and the guy. Glancing back over to her, I saw her look at him, too. She held the eye contact for a while, but Sin broke it so soon, looking down at the ground momentarily before he looked back up to me. "Last rule of the night, Ki. You ready?"
I just stared at him, wondering if I preferred this broken man or the one with no feelings. Silently, wordlessly, I nodded at him.
"Don't ever fall in love. It hurts more often than not," he whispered before tearing past us and out of the bar, leaving Dice and I to gape after him.
