Jess started a journal story about the two of us, and we're gonna write it cooperatively for like... ever.
JESSICA
A house is not a home, I hate this song.
Is a house really a home when your love ones is gone?
And people got the nerve to blame you for it.
But you know you woulda took the bullet if you saw it.
And you felt it and still feel it…
So you’ve been a guest in your own home,
It’s time to make your house a home.
Pick up the phone and say,
I’m comin’ home.
Ain’t no stoppin’ us now, I luh dat song.
Whenever it comes on it makes me feel strong.
I thought I told you that we won’t stop,
Until we backcruisin’ through my hometown.
I was probably the stupidest kid a few years ago when I met my best friend Ashley for the first time. I had hippie looking hair that parted right down the middle of my lightly dandruffed scalp. It was wavy and overly frizzy and poofy. I wore the same pink sweatshirt almost every day and high-water jeans that showed much more than just my ankles. Ashley didn’t care though, within the first few minutes of meeting her at a Christmas party we linked arms and ran around taking pictures with her phone. Nowadays we are a bit different, at least the way we look and act, but our arms have always stayed linked since that night.
Now, I have actually become a lot more self-conscious about how I do my hair and dress. I laugh at my previous careless self whenever I do my hair. In other words, no more flakes, a huge relief, and a little more style with my straightened bangs, cut layers, and oh-so-carefully set curls. Ashley, on the other hand, was never as bad as I was but she has changed a bit. She has grown a little more into the whole makeup and style thing too. Though, I have never been huge on the whole makeup part of the deal.
Also, Ashley knows just about everything about me and my past and I often know everything that is going on with her before anyone else does. We spend about every second possible laughing our heads off or doing something reasonably crazy.
One of the things that the two of us have in common is writing, we both love to do it. I scored ninety-eight percent better than other people my age across the nation. Look at a bar graph of my general school skills and you’ll see that my language and writing skills are way above average and almost off the charts. I even shocked the teachers and counselors with this. Resulting in that, I now have a poem published in a book. Thing is, it is probably the crappiest poem ever written by someone my age. I had accidentally swapped that poem for a better one, the one that was really meant to be sent to the people. Ash might as well be published too, after hearing from her sister that Ashley’s book-in-progress was amazing.
The other thing that we have in common is our life’s desires, goals, and viewpoints. One thing that constantly reminds me of this is one day when we were sitting under a tree next to a high-school football field with her new stepsister Amanda and our friend Austin. She said, “Alright you guys, we are living our lives with no regrets, starting today.” So I ate a leaf. And she rolled down a hill.
Yes, as you can already tell, our other “life desire” is to be as crazy as possible without getting overly embarrassed in the process. Having fun is practically our number one rule. Our Youtube videos are as nuts and pointless as could ever be. Even now, one of our videos has well over a thousand views. We have yet to post our best ones. Including one of a party and another of us walking into an Arctic Circle wearing jacked up clothes and messed up hair.
I better stop now before I get too ahead of myself and have nothing to say later. Peace mah homies!!!
