"It... It is?" I asked him in surprise. Why was he still being... mostly nice to me?

I nodded. "If you can't handle staying with your parents...you can stay with me always. I can't...I can't lose you again, Clare. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you here."

Clare

I stared at the floor for a moment, trying to decide if I really wanted that. If I stayed with my parents, wouldn't it just end the exact same way as last time? "... Alright."

I smiled - not smirked, but actually smiled. "Thanks, Clare," I said quietly.

Clare

I smiled back, feeling more nervous than I had earlier. "Thanks for... you know... not hating me completely."

"I could never hate you," I muttered fiercely. I hesitated before stepping forward and wrapping my arms around her, putting my face in her curly hair, her scent wreathing around me. "I love you, Clare."

"I love you, too, Eli," I murmured against his chest.

I grew quiet, letting myself enjoy the calm and the feeling of having Clare in my arms again. It was almost unreal. Almost. "Will you be going home after...this?" I finally asked.

"Home?" I asked, not really sure where that was anymore. "I didn't even tell my parents I was coming back yet. Adam found out on accident..."

I raised an eyebrow. "So you came back and enrolled in Degrassi all on your own? How did you not tell your parents you were back yet?"

Clare

I smirked slightly, "Well, technically, I never enrolled again. I just told them my parents decided Degrassi was a better choice of academics, and had a note 'signed' by my Mom."

"You little devil!" I laughed. "Where do you intend on staying if you're not going 'home', then?"

Clare

I bit my lip slightly, not really having thought about that. I was such an idiot when it came to rash decisions. "I'll tell them tonight," I lied with a smile.

"Clare," I said simply, my tone forceful. "For your sake, will you please tell them?"

"I will, eventually. Is that good enough for you?" I asked innocently.

I made a face, sighing. "Clare...fine. You tell them whenever you feel ready, but until you do, you'll be sleeping and eating at my house, because there's no way I'm letting you go without house or home for however long. My parents will be overjoyed."

"Come on, that's not fair," I told him with a laugh. "What if I decided to just run out of school right now and become one of those homeless people with cardboard signs?"

"I would track you down and drag you into Morty like a psycho rapist," I said with a grin, making my embrace around her tighter, like a restraint, chuckling.

I tried squirming out of his grasp in vain. "So you're just going to kidnap me, then?" I asked while still laughing.

"Absolutely. That's me - Eli the psycho rapist kidnapper!" I said cheerfully.

"Oh, you just sound so dreamy," I shot back dramatically.

"Don't I?" I replied. "Now, will we be skipping the rest of detention?"

"I don't know, do I get a cardboard sign?" I asked.

"No," I teased, "but you get a ride in Morty. And maybe some coffee at The Dot."

"I guess I'll settle for that," I pretended to decide. Things were already starting to feel sort of back to normal. Was it really that easy?

I chuckled again and released her, ushering her towards the door. "Thanks to you, we could even sleep in my bedroom. It's...better in there."

I glanced at him in surprise, not able to speak at first. "I... I think I'd like that."
