I stayed silent, unable to think of a response to that. Staying at the Academy and training a bunch of smartass kids with Jaimie? Why would I say no to that?
"Well, you see, Guardian Baker, we've decided the training of lots of Dhamphir to be Guardians is worth more than protecting one Royal," the headmistress told Jaimie seriously.

I narrowed my eyes at him and shook my head. "But this isn't the old days, Siory. You're married now. Don't think I don't know exactly what you're thinking," I said coldly, turning around and walking back inside. I couldn't deal with this. I knew Trent at least used to think I was hot. I didn't know for sure if he still did. But either way, he was married to the closest thing I'd ever had to a best friend.

I found Trent after he shouted into the air. I walked over and arched an eyebrow at him, smiling a bit. "Seriously, if you ask nicely, I think maybe God'll give you a sign or something. Last I checked, yelling doesn't usually work."

I gave up, and sat down on the floor. I didn't exactly like it here, with Cross and Saviour also attending this school...but I guess I'd have to suck it up and deal with it. I sighed as I leaned against the wall.

Great, someone wanted to talk to me. I frowned and tossed the blood bag onto my bed, then walked up to the door, opening it slightly. "What?" I hissed at the girl, wiping the blood off my lips with the back of my hand. I could tell she wasn't Moroi, or a dhampir.
