Secrets & Fire 3: The Fortunate

Alyssa

"The regular kind," I said with a smirk, holding the bag out to him. "Care to tell me what you're actually doing here?"

Blaze

"Fun day at school?" Mom asked from the living room.
I shook my head. "Not really. Meghan got run over by a bus and Alyssa thinks she saw a vampire. Oh, afterwards was good. Harmony joined the band and we might be famous soon."
She stared at us blankly for a minute, "Is Alyssa alright?"

Harmony

I nodded. "She's fine. She went with Kialish to the station to see a drug-dealing werewolf gangster," I said, grabbing a Mountain Dew out of the fridge and walking back out to the living room. "So where to?" I asked Blaze.

Isaiah

"Hmm..." I shrugged. "Not particularly. I think we're probably being recorded." I took a few pretzels from the bag and pointed to the camera mounted on the wall.

Alyssa

I glanced at the camera for a second, then reached in my pocket for Blaze's knife. I waved at whoever was watching and starting cutting some of the wires off randomly. "There. Does it look broken enough to you?"

Blaze

"He let her go?" she asked incredulously.

[Callie]

Harmony

"Well, I don't think he knows about the werewolf part."

Isaiah

I shook my head. "Not really. But even if it did, I still wouldn't tell you. Just like I won't tell anyone around here. But mostly I won't tell you because you don't need an even worse opinion of me," I said, nodding seriously.

[Ashley (;]

Alyssa

"I didn't have a bad opinion of you in the first place," I answered honestly.

Blaze

"Well, he's getting told when he gets home," she muttered under her breath. Alyssa was going to kill the both of us...

[Callie]

Harmony

"Do you want me to die, Mom?" I asked Chloe, frowning.

Isaiah

"Huh. You sure?"

[Emmy]

Emerson
I stood there like a complete idiot for a few minutes. Here I was thinking the prostitute thing meant she wouldn't do romance...
Smokkey
I poked my head out of my room. "Mom? Am I allowed to come out and watch TV?"
"Yeah. But just go back into your room when Dad gets home, so it seems like I'm actually punishing you." I grinned at that and came out. She looked at me. "PJs already?"
I looked down at my shorts and tank top. "Yeah. Didn't plan on sneaking out," I said smiling a little. She grinned back and I sat down on the couch and lounged lazily.

Zephyr

I shouldn't have done that. It was great, of course - part of me had figured that Emerson would be a good kisser - but if I suddenly decided this wasn't what I wanted, I'd fuck up our whole friendship. But why in the world would I not want it, besides the fact that I was scared out of my mind? That didn't count, because I knew Emerson wouldn't leave me. Well, I hoped he wouldn't, at least.

Vincent

I glanced back. "Hayden?" I hissed. Damn it! She'd left. And now I was torn between going over and checking on her and running back to everyone else. Of course, they could be anywhere by now, and Smokkey's mom - or worse, her dad - might answer the door. It took a few moments of standing there and freaking out silently before I could suck it up enough to walk over and knock on the door. Then I waited.

Smokkey
Mom gave me a look. "Open the door."
"Why?"
"Punishment."
I made a face and got up anyway, walking to the door and opening it. My eyes went wide and I blushed. "Vincent?"
Emerson
I stumbled up our driveway and went into the house. Mom was nowhere to be seen, but she'd yell at me for sure..

[Callie]

Vincent

"Um... hi," I said, blushing a bit. Thankfully, it was really dark out, so you couldn't see. "I thought you were grounded."

Zephyr

"I'm home," I called sarcastically, slipping into the alley.
"About time," Tristan teased, leaning against the wall. "How'd things go with loverboy?"
I blushed. "Loverboy?"
"Yes, loverboy. You obviously like him, and he likes you back. So dish me the dirt. Pretend I'm your best girlfriend and spill already."
I rolled my eyes. "We watched a movie making fun of vampires. Comedy was good."
He slapped me in the head. "Not that, stupid. The whole... explanation."
"He took it well. Kind of stunned, but then he went back to normal and popped his eyes back into his head."
"He was probably envisioning you in a stripper outfit," Tristan said matter-of-factly.
I rolled my eyes at him again. "He's not you, Tris."
"Touche."

[Emmy]

Smokkey
"I am but I can leave my room when dad's not home..." I told him slowly. "How'd you know I was grounded?" I asked, but realized the answer as soon as I said it. Hayden, you are in so much trouble..

[Callie]

Vincent

"I ran into her," I said, seeing the answer in her eyes, "and she led me here, saying I should stop in to check on you. And then she left again."

[Emmy]

Smokkey
I made another face. "God, she is so going to get it from me when she gets home." I looked back up at him. "You wanna come in, since you're here?"

[Callie]

Vincent

I laughed a bit. "Well, not if you don't want me here..."

[Emmy]

Smokkey
"Well, the only thing is that Dad might be home soon." I shrugged. "C'mon! Mom wouldn't mind." She'd just like that I was being social...

[Callie]

Vincent

"Uh..." I shrugged. "Sure," I said and stepped inside awkwardly.

[Emmy]

Smokkey
"Smokk? Who was it?" My mom called from the living room.
"Just a friend..." I yelled back, entering the room. "Mom, this is Vincent."

[Callie]

Vincent

"Hi," I said with a small smile at her mom. Well, this was awkward.

[Emmy]

Beth
I nodded to him, trying not to smirk, but I did anyway. "Hi, Vincent." I looked at Smokkey. "Maybe you should change since we've got company, kid?"
Smokkey
I blushed bright red and sped out of the room. My PJs weren't exactly...covering.

[Callie]

Vincent

I cleared my throat. Yeah... "You too," I said.

[Emmy]

Beth
"So. Do you like her?" I asked bluntly. "Don't worry, I don't really care; I'm just glad she's finally made a friend."
Smokkey
I changed quickly into old sweatpants and a big T-shirt, then brushed my hair out.

[Callie]

Vincent

"I, uh, maybe," I said, blushing bright red.

[Ashley (;]

Blaze

"No. But I don't want Alyssa to either."
"Mom, I'll take care of him. You won't even need to tell Dad," I told her seriously. She didn't seem to like that plan any better than the first one.

Alyssa

"Quite sure, actually," I said with a smile.

[Callie]

Isaiah

I shrugged. "If you insist."

Harmony

"But if he's locked up in jail, won't he not be a problem either way?"

[Emmy]

Beth
I smiled and was about to say something when Smokkey came back in.
Smokkey
"I'm back." I said upon re-entering the living room. I took one look at Vincent's face and shot Mom a "WTF?" look. She looked at me innocently and shrugged.

[Callie]

Vincent

I quickly tried to stop blushing, but said nothing.

[Emmy]

Smokkey
"Sorry about my mom," I whispered so only he could hear. This was awkward.

[Callie]

Vincent

I shook my head. "No problem."

[Emmy]

Smokkey
"You can sit down if you want," Mom offered, turning back to the TV. I looked at him and shrugged, plopping down on the couch.
Blade
After getting lectured by the leader, I decided to just stay out tonight, since I knew I'd get lectured even more if I went back. Maybe I'd even see hayden around, I didn't know.

[Callie]

Vincent

"Right," I said and awkwardly sat down on the sofa next to Smokkey.

Hayden

I went through an alley when I saw that group of guys that Vincent had been hanging out with earlier, then looked around to find myself in a spot in the slums that I hadn't been to before. Huh. This place had even more of a dangerous vibe than the rest of the slums. Cool.
