Powerful Vs. Powerless
Many years ago, something miraculous and terrifying had happened. Some said it was the next step in human evolution. Others believed that a new species had suddenly and unexpectedly arrived.
Human beings began to exhibit powers. Powers that previously could only be dreamt or imagined. At first mankind marveled at this occurrence, having read or seen such things in movies and books, but never thought could possibly ever occur. The first to be discovered were heralded as wonders and celebrities, and slowly their numbers grew. They were called “Titans”, in honor of the awesome powers they controlled.
With growing numbers, the inevitable occurred. Some used these powers to their advantage: Winning in prestigious events they should have been banned from, hypnotizing people to give them whatever they wished, and some even used their powers for their own sadistic means, including murder.
With these occurrences, anger and fear ensued and spread like wildfire. There were talks of euthanization. The only way to keep peace and order, they cried, were if these “freaks” were put down. Others spoke of quarantine. Keep them separated from the “normal” folk, and the world would right itself again. They feared what the powerful would do over the powerless.
But a popular idea began to take hold amongst mankind. These people, this new strain of whatever they were, were obviously not human anymore than an ape or a chimpanzee was. Therefore, as politicians eventually took it, they were not entitled to “human rights”. These men, women, and children which were first regarded as near gods were now treated as the dregs of society. Accounts were seized. They were evicted from their properties. Businesses refused them service. As such, the crime rate amongst them grew, and people began to fear them even more. The world, it seemed, was on the brink of an Inter-Species war.
Then a brilliant young scientist, Alfred E. Calvin, came up with a brilliant invention. He called it the “Titan Collar.” Once this collar was placed on a Titan, it severely weakens whatever power they were born with. Nothing could prevent the abilities altogether. However, along with several politicians and many modifications, a plan came into being.
The Titans, once said as a means of respect, was now a term of mockery, as they were turned into slaves for the “normal” mankind. Any and all Titans were given a Titan Collar and symbolic tattoo on the back of their right hand to identify them, for the rest of their lives, as “non-human.” The collar restricts their powers unless verbally given permission to use them by their “owners”. If a Titan were to use his powers against his/her master or any other human without permission would result in an extremely painful electrical shock followed by a sedative. Any Titans, if guilty of raising their hand (or power) to their master more than three times is automatically terminated. No trial. No questions asked. Depending on the power of a Titan, some collars may be specifically modified to better contain their power.
All collars act as a tracking device as well. A master, as well as the government, will know where their Titan is at any and all times. If a Titan is accused of running away more than three times, no matter their age or circumstances, they will be terminated.
Breeding amongst Titans is expressly forbidden unless specifically granted by the master, and only if they get permission from the government. Accidental pregnancies are taken on a case by case basis, but more often than not, such pregnancies are terminated.
All Titans are collared and tattooed at birth, the Titan gene found and verified in a simple genetic test. It goes without saying that the collars cannot be removed except by the hands of a government official who has been specially trained to remove it. Not even the owners or a Titan friendly human can remove it.
A hundred years passed. No one could remember what life was like before Titans, or imagine life without their Titan slaves. The Titans themselves can’t imagine a world where they were ever accepted as equals or can see it coming anytime soon. For those alive now, this is how it has always been. The powerful and powerless have switched places.
However, deep in the forests of an island called Vapaus, where our story takes place, a faction of rogue Titans is secretly working to change this way of life. Comprised of Titans which have either escaped bondage, were born free, or slaves who spy on their masters, as well as sympathetic humans, they seek to change the world. For now they must work silently, lest they be found, and destroyed, by those who want things to remain as they are.
Will humans reign supreme? Will the Titans be freed and made equals, like it used to be? Or will the humans' worst fear be realized; Will the Titans take over the world? In the end, who is the powerful, and who are the powerless?
Only you can decide! Place the words “Heebee Jeebees” in your first post so I know you’ve read the story.

Name: Alexander Nova
Age: 18 years old
Gender: Male
Picture:
Species: Titan
Powers/Abilities: Probability manipulation.
Affiliation: Slave
Background: Absolutely nothing is known about Xander, and he doesn't tend to share. All that is known is that he can make bad things happen, or good things. He can also make things not happen. Oh, and there's the fact that he doesn't like being a slave. Not one bit. But he does his best to be respectful and everything, though he knows it won't set him free. He's a Titan, and he can't change that. He probably wouldn't if he could.
Personality: Quiet, mysterious, loner, cold.
Other: Everyone calls him Xander.

Name: Celeste Robins
Age: 16 years old
Gender: Female
Picture:
Species: Human
Powers/Abilities: None.
Affiliation: Slave Owner
Background: Celeste was in a car crash with her parents two years ago, when she was fourteen. She made it out, barely alive, but both her parents died. Celeste left to live with her aunt and uncle... shortly after learning that she was permanently blind from the car crash. Celeste hates how, because of her "condition", everyone thinks she's so fragile. Her personality, however, doesn't really help their assumptions. She knows she can take care of herself, but that doesn't seem to matter to anyone else. She can't see, so she must be unable to do anything else, either, apparently. Celeste also doesn't like the idea of the Titans as slaves, though she has her own. Just a few, though she doesn't want to. She only has them due to the persistence of her aunt and uncle.
Personality: Gentle, caring, kind, friendly, easygoing, wise, careful.
Other: Like the bio said; she's blind.
