Survivors of Karelu

Introduction


The people of Karelu had a good life on their planet until one day a rebellion started. A group of people decided they didn’t like the monarchy of the Royal Karelians and started an uproar. After a year of losing people to the other side or to death, the rebels discovered a way to destroy the planet. To them it was sense of martyrdom if enough escaped, to teach the other planets. To the Royals it was suicide.

Some of the Royal families managed to send their children away to a distant planet, in hopes of saving their race. Not many of the lower Karelians could afford to, but some still got out as well. A few months later, the infants arrived at a planet called Earth, where the humans lived. Their goal was to try and fit in as one of them. Easy, right? It was in the beginning. They were given to adoptive families who were told not to tell the children of their powers. Now that they're in they're in highschool, their abilties are slowly manifesting.

Races

Karelu Royals

• They look just like every other human.
  
• Their powers include any of the elements.
  
• I'd prefer a maximum of ____ Royals.
  
• The Royals would be around 16-19 now.
  

Karelu Changers

• They also look just like the humans.
  
• Their powers include shapeshifting to other humans or animals.
  
• I'd prefer a maximum of 2 Changers since they are the more poor civilians.
  
• Some of them are still considered Rebels, and want to hunt down the remaining Royals.
  
• The Changers would also be around 16-19 now.
  

Simples

• The simples were infected by meteor rock when the Karelians landed.
  
• Their powers are basically unlimited besides the Karelians' abilities. But they only have one. Such as Telekinesis or Telepaths. Usually more Mental-related, but some others.
  
• The Simples can take either side, but quite a few hate the Karelians for their new powers.
  
• They can be of any age, but preferably in high school so they can be included.
  

Experiments

• The Experiments for genetically enhanced by meteor rock.
  
• Their powers are pretty much the same as the Simples, but usually more Physical-related like Superhuman Strength or Speed.
  
• Any age and side like the Simples.

Tabitha's a quiet, mysterious individual, and just goes with the flow. She doesn't talk very often (people are often surprised when she does, since it's so rare), and is hardly ever noticed. And she'd like to keep it that way.

Bio/Personality: Veronica remembers very little of the actual accident. She was playing outside when she saw a meteor land 30 meters away from her. Out of curiosity she walked closer to it and... then she blacked out. She remembers waking up at the hospital a week later and she thought that was that. She continued her life but when she was 9 she started passing out randomly. When she was unconscious she could walk around like a ghost, she could transport herself anywhere and even hear people's thoughts. She has yet to figure out how to control her power and her parents still think she has a disease of some sort.
Powers: She can't control her power yet. She passes out and can then walk around like a ghost and be anywhere she wants.

Bio/Personality: Cambria has always been...well, odd. She believes in something usually if there is no proof that it exists.She's always serenely calm and says stuff like it is, no matter how awkward it might get. Cambria's parents have had a very hard time hiding the fact that she's a royal princess with powers. So, they usually watch Cambria's little brothers and ignore their daughter's questions.
Powers: Although she doesn't know it, Cambria controls the element of air.

Bio/Personality: Amelie's family was perfect before the meteors hit. She was a young, carefree toddler, and then one night it all changed for the worse, at least to Amelie. There were lots of babies and toddlers, like her. While her parents were telling the police what they'd just seen, Amelie wandered off to the rocks and fell into them. She was never the same after that. Neither was her family, since they adopted weirdo Cambria.
She got out of her house the minute she could. Amelie's always hated Cambria; she blames her little sister for what happened and what Amelie can do. Amelie got married a year ago. He died mysteriously shortly after their honeymoon, and Amelie discovered she was pregnant soon after that. She's 6 months along.
Powers: She can walk straight into fires without having a single burn, and put out fire with a snap of her fingers. She can't start fires, at least not without matches, though.

Bio/Personality: Kenyon was experimented on, unbeknownst to his parents, shortly after he was born. He was a preemie so they were wondering if exposing him to the meteorite would help him develop faster and better. They were wrong. Kenyon just got sicker and sicker, and was that was for many months. But eventually he got better, and they realized Kenyon had lost control of his legs; he was paralyzed. Kenyon is very bitter towards all doctors now and keeps to himself, ashamed from not being able to walk. His sister Cambria is the only one who's been able to get through to him.
When his sister first got married he found out something about her new husband's past; he had married a few times before and murdered his new bride everytime. Kenyon got so furious at this he unleashed his mind on the man and made the guy kill himself. Kenyon hasn't told anyone this, because he feels so guilty..
Powers: Can hurt people through his mind.

Bio/Personality: Haven is a very... bubbly person. She's very energetic and kind, and she's rarely sad. Sarcasm doesn't always get through to her, but if she understands, sometimes she'll use it back. Haven can almost always find the good in someone, and she's sort of a pacifist. Fighting just isn't her thing. She's very friendly, and sort of difficult to hate completely.
Haven never really got along with her "parents". They said she needed to get her head out of the clouds; she wondered if the clouds would taste like cotton candy. She's sort of... strange, to say the least, and she's very soft-spoken, but she'll give her opinion if she feels strongly about something. Haven spends a majority of her time outside. Usually in the woods or at the park. Nature makes her feel safe. Always. However, Haven is also very truthful. If you ask her about something, she'll tell you the truth, because she hates lying. It's what got her into this whole mess here on earth. Her parents might hate her a little less if she hadn't accidentally killed her younger sister when she shifted. Little Lilith had just gotten in the way, and Haven had killed her... Truth is, Haven hates staying at the house where she killed Lilith, so she stays away, hoping, praying, that her parents might have a better time with her away. No one outside of Haven's family know what happened, though. They keep it to themselves, telling everyone that Lilith died of something to do with her lungs.
Powers: Can shift into another person or animal.

Haven

I stopped outside the door when I heard Mom and Dad talking. I could be really quiet when I wanted, so I just stood there with my backpack and listened in.
"... worried about her, Ben," Mom said; I could hear the frown in her voice. "It was years ago, and she hardly spends any time around us... like she thinks we'll hurt her or something if she does..."
I didn't particularly want to hear any more about my problems with thinking Mom and Dad hated me, so I quietly set my backpack on the porch and stepped off of it, then ran like the wind to the park.

Cambria
"Kenyonnn?" I called from down the hall. He was always the last to leave at school. "Are you coming with me to the park today?" I asked him calmly. He thought a moment, then nodded. I smiled. "Good, I have a good feeling about it today," I said shutting his locker for him and wheeling him out of the school, down the sidewalk and to the park. We didn't talk. We didn't have to. He just liked the fact I was there for him, I knew.

Haven

I skipped the last bit of the way into the park, then ran to The Tree. Well, it probably wasn't anything important to anyone else; it wasn't even the biggest tree. It was just my tree. Oak. And it was comfortable. Sometimes there was a family of squirrels there. I leaned against it, taking in its shade and thinking about anything but Lilith. I thought about how I'd managed to go the whole day today without getting into trouble for talking. And then my mind drifted once again. What would life be like if I were a squirrel? I looked up to see one in the branches, and I waved at it. It didn't wave back, but I didn't mind.

I wheeled Kenyon next to bench, which was close to an oak tree. "You'll be ok while I go look for nargles, right?" I asked him, and he smirked. "Perfectly fine, Cambria."

Haven

I noticed people nearby, and, not wanting to seem antisocial or something, I hopped up and walked over to them. "Hi!" I said, hearing the girl said something about nargles. What were nargles? Whatever they were, they sounded... kind of weird. What did they do? "What's a nargle?" I asked her curiously.

Cambria
"Oh, nargles are little pests that land in your ears and give you bad ideas," I said serenely. Kenyon blushed a little, probably ashamed of me. "I'm Cambria, and that's Kenyon."

"Oh. They sound sort of mischevious," I said seriously, though I did know that they weren't real, now. "I'm Haven," I told them, nodding. "Nice to meet you both!" I smiled.

"The same." I said with a nod, smiling too. "While I go catch them, you can stay here and try to chat up my brother--good luck with it." I smiled again and walked off.
Kenyon
I looked up at the girl. "You're not scared by my sister. Hmm. Must be one of the first not to be."

I stepped outside and felt the gentle breeze around my hair. Today was a good day to fly.
