I blinked. I'd known that Margit hadn't particularly wanted or even liked Anita, but... I kissed Anita on the head once more, then gently set her back in her crib as she stopped fussing. I didn't really know what to say to that...

I stood up on my tiptoes and scanned the crowd for Alexei, but he was no where in sight. Hmm...
Just then, my stomach growled. I turned to Damon, who was standing next to me, and handed Dimitri to him. "I'm hungry," I declared.

"Sorry, I just..." I shook my head. I knew she wouldn't be like Mom, being with some abusive jackass just for the sake of being with someone, or to make sure her child had support. Then again, Margit didn't even want Anita.
