"... Maybe Crian and Kaylieh have ideas," I said, looking at her.
She looked back up at me and shook her head vigorously. "No!"
"Why not?"
"... They'll feel bad, Damien. They can't help."
"You never know," I said firmly, gently pushing her off me.
Rowan just sunk down to the grass and stared at it as I went back inside.

I poured the Vodka and smiled at Shauna as I handed it over "No chaser with it then?" she shook her head and sipped at it.

"Nope I prefer it straight...I can be dealing with messing around and adding shit to it." I smiled

"HAYLEY...COME and dance with me..." I called over the lads and grimaced to make her come over.

"It's Rowan," I said in an undertone. "She... she came here because her mom's a drunk and been getting abusive, apparently, but we never knew. And now her mom's here, but she's refusing to go home, and neither of us know what to do."

I nodded thoughtfully. "That might work... for my mom. If she sees what's going on with Rowan and her mom, Mom might let her stay. But I don't want Kaylieh to - "
The back door opened and Rowan walked in. "No, Kaylieh can't do it." she shook her head. "I'll... egg Mom on or something, and then you can just make sure your mom sees, Damien. I don't want anyone else getting hurt because of this." She was staring at the ground hard, afraid to meet anyone's eyes.

I nodded and, filled with emotion, I hugged her tightly. "Thanks, Kay. You don't... you don't know how much that means," I whispered. I hadn't really had many friends back home, so I didn't really have anyone to back me up. It... it felt good.

"I really just need Damien - you two would probably be safer here," I remarked, looking between Crian and Kaylieh. "I'll go and provoke Mom, and Damien'll get his mom to look in at the right time. She'll decide that my mom's unfit for me to stay with, and I'll get to stay here." If everything goes smoothly.
