After the song was over, I slumped down onto the bench and mentally cursed at myself. What was I doing? Why did I want to kiss Noah all of a sudden? I'd hardly even known him for a day. And that wasn't to mention I wasn't eighteen yet, which meant these foster parents would tire of me like all the rest and send me back. That would mean I couldn't stay here. So trying to make friends was pointless. It always had been, and I knew that.

Noah
"Dancing tired you out huh," I said with a half smirk.

[Callie]

OOC: Half smirks are hawt. :3 Just saying.

I laughed. "Just a little." Then I sighed, realizing school was over. "I should probably get home..."

"I could walk you home," I offered, and immediately wondered what the hell was wrong with me.

AmberLynn

"I... thank you, but... our house is a mess right now," I said, standing up and gathering my things. Since when had I stumbled over a lie before? And it was even only a half-lie; my room was the only messy one, which was exactly why he couldn't come. He'd wonder how they set everything up so quickly, and it was because they'd been living there for ages and I was the one that had just arrived. Or, worse yet, what if he knew them? No, he couldn't come. Not until a sufficient amount of time had passed so "we could unpack".

Noah
"Okay. Well, uh..." I hugged her quickly. "Bye."

[Callie]

I stared at him for a minute after he hugged me, then hugged him again, making it last longer than his had. "Thank you. I had fun," I murmured, then pulled away. I swung my bag up onto my shoulder and trekked home.

Hale

I just smirked at Noah as New Girl walked off.

Noah
"Say not a word." I warned Hale after watching her walk away.

[Callie]

Hale

I grinned. "To who? She's totally got the hots for you, dude. I think you should stop this whole 'not-wanting-a-girlfriend' thing. It'd be good for you."

Noah
"Yeah, but it won't be for her." I pointed out. "I don't want to hurt anybody."

[Callie]

Hale

I rolled my eyes. "You don't know that. Maybe it'd be good for her, too. Maybe she was planning on committing suicide tonight because she felt like nothing. Maybe you helped her feel better about herself and you didn't even know it." I blinked. That was deep. "Everyone's got their own problems, Noah. Some people just have them more severe than others," I added.

Noah
I was quiet for a moment. "I guess you're right. But I still don't want a girlfriend."

[Callie]

Hale

"Mhm. Not even her?" I asked him, raising my eyebrows. I knew I was getting on his nerves, but I didn't particularly care.

[Emmy]

Noah
"Not even her." I said firmly.

[Callie]

OOC: You didn't see anything. /disappearing act

"I still don't believe you. But whatever," I said, waving at him before walking back home.

I stared at the e-mail open on my netbook in front of me. I should be heading to school soon, but I was kind of distracted.

And once again, I grabbed a cereal bar and threw my backpack over my shoulders, heading over to Noah's. Funny how we could be at each other's throats one day, but still friends the next day. I guess it was just an "us" thing.

Noah
I awoke to a pounding in my head. "Damn," I muttered trying to sit up, making a face.

[Callie]

Hale

I knocked on the front door of Noah's house and waited for someone to answer. Impatiently, of course.

Eventually I shook my head at myself and shut the netbook. Something told me Michael Jackson hadn't risen from the dead to teach me magic tricks. I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs, waving to my foster mom on my way out, since she was still home.
"Have a good day, dear!" she exclaimed, rushing over and trying to hug me.
I squirmed out of her embrace. "I won't be home right after school gets out," I informed her before leaving and shutting the door firmly behind me. I just couldn't win, could I? I hated foster parents that ignored me and I hated foster parents that smothered me, and not once had I had some that were in-between. Except for the last set, of course.

I vaguely heard a knock and trudged out of bed and to answer the door, bedhead and all. "Hi, Hale." I muttered.

[Callie]

Hale

"Morning. Don't you look gorgeous," I remarked, slipping in past him and grinning. "C'mon, it's time to get up. We have to go to school!"

Noah
I scratched my scalp and shut the door. "Hangover. Not gonna go," I said walking to the kitchen to get medicine for it.

[Callie]

Hale

I groaned and followed him into the kitchen. "Please!" I begged. "Things'll be awkward if you're not there. I'll be a loner at our table."

I threw him a look. "Down on the knees and beg," I said, smirking.

Hale

I sighed. "Do I have to?" I pouted for a moment, then dropped to my knees and clasped my hands together. "Please, Noah!"

I laughed out loud. "Sure, for you, Hale." I said whilst looking for the medcine. "Does it matter if I come in PJs?"

Hale

"Probably, but I'm not picky," I said, standing back up.

I yawned loudly. "Good." I popped the pills in my mouth and swallowed dry.

"Y'know, that's probably not - oh, fuck it," I muttered, realizing it was useless. I walked over to the front door and held it open. "You coming, man?"

I grabbed my backpack from the couch--the homework was untouched--and slung it over my back. "Yeah."
