She nodded and gave me a small smile, but I knew she was just trying to make me feel better so I didn't worry about her. "I'm fine, Dayton."
I pretended that her facade was working and just smiled, going back to pretending to daydreaming. Pretending. I did that a lot, lately. Mostly around Belle. I knew she didn't want me to think she was sad or weak or anything, and I didn't. But for her own sake, she needed to hold her head up high and pretend that nothing was wrong. I could go along with that, if it made her feel better.

New York City, New York felt like a whole different world compared to Tokushima, Japan. Well... writing-wise, at least. The bustling city atmosphere was the same, but everything here was in English, not Japanese. It wasn't something I was used to, and I wasn't quite sure what all the words really meant. But here I was, standing out on a sidewalk in front of our new mansion, just looking around. Looking around from where I stood when I should be exploring, or practicing my English, at the very least.

I pulled away from her lips temporarily and smirked back. "He'll get over it. Everybody lies sometimes." With that, I unhooked her bra once more.

The guy looked over to Jasper and smiled. "Oh, look, your boyfriend's here. Why don't we see how much he really cares?" he took a step towards Jasper, but I blocked his path, and shoved him hard against the nearest shelf.
"Leave him alone, or I swear to Zeus that I will get the nearest hammer and gut you like a fucking fish," I hissed, grabbing the nearest hammer to prove my point.
He nodded slowly, and I let go of him. He started to sidle away, but I punched him hard in the face first, wishing I didn't have to stop there. After a moment of being a bit dazed, he ran off. Instead of chasing after him, I threw the hammer at the ground in my frustration, sinking to the floor.

I chuckled. "Yeah. We're here. I got you," I whispered as some people came over and took Rosetta from me, placing her on a stretcher. I narrowed my eyes; I could carry her. Instead, I just followed. I would knock them out if they said I couldn't do that.

She couldn't leave yet, though. There was still the matter of Josh. After she took care of him, she would leave Cincinatti. Soon enough, it would no longer be safe here, so she had to work extra hard to get him to trust her. When he did, he would fall in love - gag - and perhaps propose. Once he did so, Amelia would accept, and eventually he would add her into his will. After he died from food poisoning at a restaurant, she would inherit whatever he'd left her, and sue the treacherous restaurant that would even think of doing such a thing to her beloved Josh.

Then she would leave.

Amelia knelt down next to what used to be her fiancee, being careful to avoid the puddle of blood around him. She traced his lips with her fingers, smiling only slightly. She could say that she would miss him, but that would be an even worse lie than her usual ones, wouldn't it? Amelia didn't miss anyone; she didn't feel, and she didn't care. It was what made her superior to everyone else. Others had emotions bogging them down: guilt, grief, anger, sadness, happiness. Amelia didn't feel any of that, and it meant she could do whatever she wanted. It was good. She liked things better this way.

"Goodnight, Daniel," she whispered into his ear, still smiling, before she stood up, turned on her heel, and left the vicinity.
