I pulled into the parking lot of the school, feeling disgruntled. I hadn't gotten a good night's sleep at all, and it had taken forever for Morty to start up. I swore, if this car wasn't so awesome, I would buy a new one. I slowly got out of the car, slung my backpack over my shoulder, and headed into the school.

I walked down the sidewalk to the school and stopped for a moment, looking up at it. Well, maybe this place would be less drama-infested than my last school. And if it wasn't, I just wouldn't get caught up in it. If I hadn't been trying to defend Deirdre's honor in my last school, then I wouldn't've gotten caught up in it, and maybe it would've died down. Instead of... well, y'know. Instead of her being the one that died. I shook my head at myself and hiked my backpack back up on my shoulders, heading into the school and looking around for a sign to tell me where the office would be. I needed my schedule, at least.

No sign of Fitz. That's good. That last thing I'd need was a confrontation with him. I ambled down the hallway until I reached my locker. When I opened it, I managed to catch the crumbled up paper that fell out and shoved it in a garbage can. I shook my head and then grabbed the books I needed for English class.

Great. No signs, and I couldn't easily see past the people in the hallways. I sighed and started walking, looking around distractedly for a sign or some room that didn't have a number on it.

I looked up to the school. I sighed. It was hard to stop drinking, but I had finally done it, or so I thought I had. I walked up the steps to the doors.

I drove up to the school on my harley after dropping my little sister off at her school. I took off my helmet and shook my hair out. I slung my bag around one shoulder and trudged into the school. Ugh, U.S History first period? Damn that sucks. I went to my locker and grabbed the 4 pound book. "This is bullshit.." I mumbled under my breath. I walked into the class last, but i was allowed to come late to school because the school knew my situation. Not my fault I have to take care of my sister

"Bye Dad." I walked away from the car, towards the school. "Take care, won't you?" I hear my dad call back. "'Course I will" I reply, like I've done the last eight times. I walked through the front entrance, and saw a teacher, and gingerly approached her and asked where the office was.

I had History first. Woopie. I walked over to my locker to take out my books.

I don't really feel like going to English class. Though it was the only class I really excelled in, I didn't feel like going. I managed to push my backpack into my locker, close and lock it, and then amble slowly out of the school. New security? Security my ass. Nobody's stopping me.

I walked to the back of the class and slunched down in my usual chair. I sighed and pulled out my notebook. I started to doodle a little person

I collected my schedule, map, and listened to the teacher go on about the usual stuff they say at every school. I looked for my first class, wandering along the corridor, referring to my map.

I yawned and raised my hand. The teacher looked at me "Yeah, can I go to the bathroom?" I asked, she nodded and i grabbed the pass. Ugh free time, finally.

Great, late on the first day, J. That's talent if I ever saw it. I rolled my eyes at myself and poked my head into a random classroom that was obviously in session. Woopsie. "Yeah, excuse me, but, uh... would you mind telling me where the office is?" I asked the teacher, ignoring the other kids like they did to me. They simply started talking amongst each other now that the teacher's attention was diverted. She gave me a dirty look, but walked over to the door and told me where I should go to find the office. I thanked her and went on my way, sitting down in a chair in there and waiting for her to finish with the kid ahead of me.

I walked around to the back of the school, leaning against a wall. I didn't feel like leaving school grounds. I watched the clouds move in the sky for a bit before going into deep thought.

Eventually, I got my schedule, and I scanned it as I headed out of the room, automatically taking a right and still examining my schedule. History first period. How's that for "hey, time to sleep now!" ? I found myself outside after a while and noticed the swings. I looked around carefully before walking over and sitting down on one of them. Swings brought back childhood memories, and I smiled slightly to myself. Good memories were... well, they were good.

A creaking sound made me turn my head to look at the playground across the block. Some girl was swinging on a swing...? Hm. I walked over there slowly, leaning against one of the poles keeping the swings up. "Cutting class, are we?" I asked, making a tsking noise under my breath.

I looked over to the guy that had joined me. "You're one to talk," I observed with a slight smile. "And you're welcome to join me on the swingset. Unless you actually have to get to class now."

I rolled my eyes. "I'll go to class when I feel like it," I said wryly, sitting in a swing next to her. "When do you intend on getting to class?"

I just shrugged. "Depends," I said vaguely.

"Vague answer. Very nice," I commented, watching the entrance to the school for awhile.

"Thanks. I try."

"I can see that," I said, raising my eyebrows slightly.

I also raised an eyebrow at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh...nothing," I said, looking at her out of the corner of my eye, and then away again.

"Right," I said, looking down at my feet awkwardly. "So what's your name?"

"Eli," I said. I was surprised she hadn't left yet; I usually kind of scared people away, but I sort of liked it that way.
