Secrets & Fire 3: The Fortunate

[Callie]

Harmony

"Blaze," I hissed, "he hasn't hurt anyone yet."
Isaiah laughed a bit. "And believe it or not, I wasn't planning on it. But if you're going to try to stick me through with the pocketknife that Alyssa has, I may have to change my plans."

[Ashley (;]

Blaze

"But he just admitted he would," I replied coldly and stepped towards him, just to be met by Alyssa's glare as she blocked me. "You'd hurt someone too if they tried to kill you."
"Alyssa, pass the knife."
She nodded slowly and held the knife out to Isaiah, "There. I'm passing it."

[Callie]

Isaiah

I took the knife, looked at it for a minute and held it out to Blaze. "Do what you want. Kill me if you think the world'll better off. But I'm not going to try to hurt you. As pointed out by giving this back to you." To be honest, I was scared. Scared he'd kill me right here. But... well, maybe the world would be better off without just another guy to do Dad's bidding.

Blaze

I stared at him seriously after taking the knife. "I would have already if it weren't for Alyssa standing in my way."
"Well, I don't plan on moving, so you can put it away."
Eventually I did, but not without difficulty. "Fine. Go ahead and get both of you killed."

[Callie]

Isaiah

I smiled a bit and quickly kissed Alyssa on the cheek before she could do anything, then stepped back. "As I said earlier, though, I should get going now. I was serious about my mom's burial. I'll see you guys around." With that, I waved at them and walked off, out the door, heading back to school so I could pick up the car I'd forgotten about.

[Emmy]

Emerson
I nodded. "Is Tristan gonna come kill me for taking you to a movie?" i asked jokingly.

[Callie]

Zephyr

I smirked slightly and shook my head. "Nah, he likes you."

[Emmy]

Emerson
"Ahh, okay... Your brother still does scare me, though."

[Callie]

Zephyr

I raised an eyebrow at him and laughed a little bit. "Why?" I asked. Last I'd checked, Tristan was just a manwhore, not scary or anything. But as Emerson and I walked past an alley, three pairs of hands grabbed us. Two for him, and one for me. The set of hands that grabbed me was a vampire, though, otherwise this would've been easier.
"Zephyr, it's been too long," the guy that had me said with a smile, pinning me against the wall. "I've missed you. So has the car."
I shot him a dirty look. "Leave me alone."
"Who's this?" he continued as if I hadn't spoken, looking at Emerson. "Your boyfriend? Does he know about us?"
My eyes widened and my jaw clenched. "Tyrone, there never was an us and there never will be."
"You mean..." his eyes were wide and he looked all innocent, but I knew better. If my secret wasn't out yet, it would be. I shot him a pleading look, which he promptly ignored. "I was just another one of your customers?"
I grimaced and held back a groan. "Yes," I muttered. He laughed a bit and ran his hand up my leg, which I slapped. "Get the hell away from me," I commanded.
"Like I said, Zephyr, I miss you."
"Fuck you," I retorted sourly as he went in to kiss me, then suddenly let go. Then Tristan was there, looking all pissed off, and Tyrone was rubbing his head.

Tristan

I looked at the guys that were keeping Emerson still. "Let him go," I told them firmly. Their eyes went wide, but they shook their heads, so I took a few steps towards them. They stood there for a moment before letting go of the kid and running like hell out of the alley. I knelt down next to the guy I'd kicked in the head. "Look. Tyrone, right? Well. I suggest you leave Zephyr alone, because she's not into that anymore. And if you lay so much as one finger on my sister again, and I find out about it, I can assure you, I'll do much more than dislocate your head from your shoulders, and I can also assure you that it'll be much, much, much more painful than that." Then I stood back up and pulled him off the ground, too. "Now get the fuck out of my sight before I decide that I should be more pissed about this."
He seemed unsure for a moment, but then, still holding his head, he ran out of the alley so fast he was a blur. I took Zephyr by the shoulders - she was shaking a little bit - and pulled her away from her friend for a minute. "Are you alright?"
She nodded.
"Do you need me to slap you so you can pull yourself together?" I asked.
Zephyr smiled slightly, but shook her head, and after a minute, she stopped shaking. "I'll be fine."
"Do you need me to tell him to go home, or are you gonna explain things to him?"
She frowned slightly, looking down at the ground. "I'll explain," she said quietly. I nodded a bit and hugged her before walking off. Back to our alley.

[Emmy]

Emerson
When the guys grabbed me I struggled, and even more so as that guy started to touch Zephyr. When they finally let go I rubbed my wrists slightly, and waited for Tristan to get done talking. "Zeph?" I asked simply, wondering who the hell they were, and what they were talking about.

[Callie]

Zephyr

I wrapped my arms around myself, then opened my mouth to explain to Emerson, but then I sunk down to the ground and cried. "I'm sorry," I managed to say between the tears.

[Emmy]

Emerson
I kneeled down next to her and rubbed her back, which was what my mom always did to me. "It's okay...you don't have to explain." I said softly. I really did want to know, but I hated to see her cry.

[Callie]

Zephyr

Once I was able to stop the tears long enough to talk, I looked down at the ground. He deserved to know, if he hadn't figured it out already. "I was a whore, Emerson. A prostitute," I muttered.

[Emmy]

Emerson
I blinked for a second. Prostitute? It made sense... but.... I didn't know what to say to that. What do you tell a girl to comfort her when she just said her old job was a prostitute?

[Callie]

Zephyr

I peeked up at him instead of looking at the ground and almost laughed out loud at the look on his face. "Well, now you know," I said and stood up, biting my lip slightly. "We still on for that movie? Or... do you have any questions...?"

[Emmy]

Emerson
"...You need some humor," I said, regaining a smile on my face. "Let's see how much they screwed up vampires, shall we?" I stood up too.

[Callie]

Zephyr

I smiled faintly. "Sounds good."

[Emmy]

Emerson
"Sorry about making you come to the slums..." I mumbled as we started to walk again.

[Callie]

Zephyr

I shrugged. "It's fine. I know this place like the back of my hand," I said, leaving out the part that I actually lived in one of the alleys.

[Emmy]

Emerson
"I know it slightly well," I said holding the door open for her.

[Callie]

Zephyr

I slipped inside. The movie theater wasn't the best one around, but it was decent, and the workers weren't complete assholes the whole time.

[Emmy]

Emerson
"Want any snacks?" I said after buying us tickets.

[Callie]

Zephyr

I smirked slightly at him. "They don't carry what I like, so, unless you're offering, no."

[Emmy]

Emerson
I blushed. "Fail on my part," I said with a grin, handing her her ticket. "I'll be in there in a second. They do carry what I like."

[Callie]

Zephyr

I laughed and held the tickets for him. I had to wonder if it'd hit him yet that... that... was why I didn't like romance. Probably not. Most guys were pretty oblivious.

[Emmy]

Emerson
I just got a hershey bar and some popcorn and then walked back to Zephyr. "To the movie!"

[Ashley (;]

Alyssa

I smiled to myself as he walked off while Blaze just rolled his eyes.

[Callie]

Zephyr

"To the movie," I agreed and headed over to the ticket guy, handing him our tickets, then going into the theater. "Where d'ya wanna sit?"

Harmony

Well. Attempt to break the awkward silence. "So, you wanna hang out tonight?" I asked Alyssa.

[Emmy]

Emerson
I shrugged. "Wherever. Just not in the way front."

[Ashley (;]

Alyssa

"That would be fun! We could have a sleepover at my house or your house?"
"Do I get to come?" Carter asked with a grin.
"Hah, no."
