"Jay!" I squealed, letting go of Isaiah to hug him. "Life was so boring without you!" Alright, so maybe it hadn't been, but it wasn't the fun kind of dramatic that seemed to follow Jay around.

I sat down on the other couch with a frown. Why couldn't I have realized they weren't talking about Alyssa?! "I didn't technically lay a finger on her... I laid a finger on your kid, though, but he wasn't any fun. That kid can fight back hard." I left out the part that he couldn't do much damage to me, mainly because I wasn't a normal human.

I chuckled and hugged her back, then pulled away and arched an eyebrow at her. "What, no 'I missed you!' just a 'Life was boring'? I'm hurt," I told her and pouted.

Ki almost got up again, but once more, I pushed him back down. "Calm yourself," I said firmly. "Lyssa is fine. And so is Blaze."

"So I'm not your brother now?" Blaze asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You're like a goody two shoes. There's not a single bad thing you've ever convinced me to do in my -"
Crystelle shook her head as she waved slightly at Jay, "Not true. Remember that time in Junior High when he made us all sneak in the theaters with... With our old friends to see the third Harry Potter movie? He wasn't even a goody two shoes until recently. You used to be the goody two shoes."

I raised an eyebrow, "Not to get myself into any more trouble already, but last I checked she was dead. I think I'd know."

"That's more like it," I said with a serious nod, waving back at Crystelle.
Isaiah looked kind of confused.
I just missed the good old days. Back when Blaze was so much cooler.

I kept my eyes on Ki, whose bright blue eyes were looking carefully between Jake and myself. "No, she's alive." I pointed to myself. "Mindreader, remember?" I wasn't about to spill where I'd seen her while Kialish was around.

I glanced over at Isaiah, noticing he seemed to not understand what we were talking about. "When we were younger, Alyssa used to actually meet up to the 'police chief's daughter' expectations. She never stayed out after curfew, never did anything illegal, and son on."
"I wasn't that bad," she retorted, but I just shook my head.
"You were. And Blaze was in the top two of the worst troublemakers in the school. No joke. He had girls after him and he actually had a lot of friends. He was probably tied with Rey- Oww! Who just kicked me?"
I glanced over to see Alyssa shoot me a sharp glare before looking back at her food.
Jake
"Did she get turned or something, then?" I asked curiously. "She didn't look very alive after I last saw her."

"Okay, now, I can picture Lyssa as a good girl," I said, shooting a sidelong glance to her, "but that's probably because I'm imagining her in a hot schoolgirl outfit. But still, Blaze, a troublemaker?" I asked, nearly laughing out loud just because of how completely bizarre it sounded.

I couldn't come up with a comeback for that one, so I just went back to eating my lunch. Thankfully I noticed Tasha waving me over to her table, which I gladly accepted. "I'll be right back," I told them, rushing off to the cheerleaders' table.

"That was a long time ago," I remarked quietly. "I don't get why everyone has to keep bringing it back up."
Jake
I rolled my eyes, "For crying out loud! Does every single person you guys know have a "Get Out of Death Free" card? No one stays dead!"

I just raised an eyebrow at him. "I wouldn't sound so ungrateful if I were you," I pointed out. Considering he was also still... somewhat alive and all. I was also prepared to rip the skin from his bones if he mentioned anything about finding the witch who had healed her. Hell, I would let Kialish die before I let someone near my daughter with the intent of hurting her. I'd made that mistake with Brian, but... well, his house had gotten burnt down from what I heard, so it sounded like he'd paid his dues.

"I like the old Blaze, too," I told them with a grin as I sat down next to Isaiah. "So... Why did you and Alyssa break up?"
"You guys broke up?!" Blaze asked with wide eyes.

"I'm grateful," I told her with an innocent smile before turning back to Kialish. "What happened, anyways? How did Chloe end up with a kid that wasn't yours? Last I checked, she was pretty infatuated with you."

I shook my head, "No, she told me and Tasha this morning. Right before Finn came over and told us they had hot sex on the floor last night. It's not even a rumor! Lyssa told me herself, too."

"And you're still with her?" I asked with wide eyes. I'd never ever imagined Chloe would do something like that. She'd always struck me as the next Mother Theresa, not the girl who slept with her husband's brother.

I stared blankly at her. Well... I wasn't really sure what to think of that. First she tells me she's not a whore and then she sleeps with my best friend who she'd known for less time than me? Normally, I wouldn't believe it, but if Lyssa and Finn had both said it...
I was still mulling this over to myself when Finn brought a tray over and set it down on the table, musing, "American schools are not as bad as I assumed."
"Perfect timing," I announced with a fake grin, standing up and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt. I dragged him out of the lunchroom and pinned him against the wall. "So, Finn, care explaining to me about your fun night with Lyssa?"
Kialish
"Sort of..." I muttered, directing my glare to the ground as the door opened. Dice let out a frustrated sigh, and I turned to see Sin standing in the doorway. His eyebrows were raised up into his hair, and he shut the door behind him.
"Bad time?" he asked.
"How'd you guess?" Dice shot back sarcastically, throwing the nearest pillow at him, which he caught. "Funny, we were just talking about you."
"All good things, I'll assume."
"Never."
He let out a loud laugh and walked towards us. "I feel so loved," he said before looking curiously at Jake, then extending his hand. "Nice to meet you...?"

"Wait... Wait. Alyssa and Finn are together now?" I asked with even wider eyes, after almost choking on my lunch. I mean... Yeah, they were both asleep on the floor when we came back, but Finn seemed to be in the same place, and we weren't even gone that long!

"Oh, so you're Alyssa's dad," I remarked with a small smirk as I shook his hand. "Jake Ross. Nice to meet you too. " He didn't exactly look like the kind of guy Chloe was into at all, and I had to struggle not to laugh. I guess she'd fooled us all with her innocent act.

I shrugged. I hadn't gotten a damn thing about her and Finn from her mind, but I didn't say anything about that. Maybe it just wasn't on her mind when I'd checked.

I nodded and flopped down onto Dice's recliner. "Yup. Sinclair Noir. So... what's going on?"
"We're having a friendly chat," Dice informed me with her hands on her hips.
I raised an eyebrow as I finally looked at her, then at the Jake guy. Well, I guess that would explain why he was here and why Dice had sex hair...
Isaiah
Finn was just wide-eyed and confused looking. "I... what? What are you talking about?"
I pressed him to wall a little more, and he coughed. "You had sex with Lyssa last night?"
Now he just looked so confused that I didn't know what to do. I let go of him, and he stared at me for a few moments, then shook his head. "I did not," he told me. "I would not."
I knew he didn't mean it like he didn't find Lyssa attractive, but because the two of us were friends and he wouldn't do that to me, so I nodded feebly, hoping that he was telling the truth. I guessed I'd find out when I asked Lyssa.

I walked back over the table everyone was at, and sat down where I was earlier. "...Where's Isaiah?
"He's talking to Finn," Blaze told me warily, almost trying to getting a reaction out of me. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to say to that so I just shrugged, my lips forming a small frown. "Meghan's funeral is today, by the way."
Jake
I raised an eyebrow at Kialish's sudden silence. It took all my will power to not ask this Sinclair brother of his why he had sex with Chloe and then she went back to Kialish... 'kind of'. Oh God, was she with both them?!

Isaiah seemed like he believed me, so I took a step towards the lunchroom. "Am I free to go, mon ami?" He may have nearly choked me to death, but... sometimes people were fools in love. I did not think Isaiah was exactly in love yet, but, the way I saw it, after what he had been through, I was going to let him overreact about girls.
I made my way back into the lunchroom and sat down, drinking some of my chocolate milk as Isaiah took a seat between Alyssa and myself. "So! Crazy rumors going around, huh," he remarked.
Sin
"So..." I said, looking around at everybody. "Should I leave?"
"It would be greatly appreciated," Dice said quickly.
I looked at her indignantly. "I thought you loved me!" I exclaimed.
She smirked and pulled me out of the chair, propelling me towards the door. "Not after that threesome comment of yours. Bye, Sin, and keep it in your pants!" she called as she shut the door after me. Well, that was slightly embarrassing. I shrugged it off and headed back home.

I shot Finn a suspicious glance, wondering if he knew what any of this was about. "Well, yeah, it's high school. When are there not crazy rumors going around?" Josie had that look on her face she had whenever she said something she probably shouldn't have, and Blaze looked in between shocked and amused. What the hell was going on?

"Threesome comment?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. This day just got better and better...

"You don't wanna know," I said immediately, then looked back at him. "Okay, so maybe you do, but Ki doesn't."
"I can imagine. You and Chloe, I'm guessing?"
I shot him an amused smile. "You know him well for not being particularly fond of him."
Kialish simply shrugged.

I swallowed slightly, though I was really only feeling slightly nervous because he was so close to me. It all made sense now. Josie said she wanted to say to hi to everyone, but she must have just wanted to tell Isaiah about what she thought she found out this morning. I wasn't mad at her, though. She would have thought I'd broken up with Isaiah and was just trying to be a good friend and rub it in. That must have been why Blaze was acting weird, too.
I pursed my lips slightly, like I wasn't sure what I was supposed to say back.
"Are you asking me if I had sex with Finn?" I whispered back. It seemed guilty, the way I hadn't just flat out told him no, but right now I was more curious as to what he meant by telling me that.
Jake
"Hey, at least the guy has good taste in women," I remarked with a smirk. Sinclair actually seemed pretty cool, and he didn't seem to be mad at me either. That was probably only because he didn't know who I was, though.

"And they have to relatively pretty," Ki added, rolling his eyes.

I looked at him with a frown, "No, Isaiah, I didn't sleep with your best friend. Happy?" I knew well enough to know Tasha would have planned on telling the whole school this, and I should have done more to correct them, yet I didn't understand how Isaiah thought he needed to ask me if it was true or not.

"I think that makes everything make a little more sense," I remarked. So the guy was a player. It explained why Chloe would have gone back to Kialish, but it didn't help me be any less jealous of him for getting her in the end.

I looked at her for a moment, then shrugged. "Not exactly. You still look pissed at me. I can't really blame you, because you probably think I'm assuming you're a whore again, which I'm not. That's why I'm asking you about this, if that makes any sense." If I'd thought she was actually a whore, I'd get pissed at her for sleeping with my best friend, but I doubted that she had.
Dice
I just shrugged a bit, flopping down onto the couch. "So what now that it turns out that Alyssa's not dead and Jake's still here?"
"Can I kill him again?" Kialish asked bitterly.
"Not while I'm around. You can go Jake-hunting later, though I don't advise it."
He glared at me.
"Well, you might've spent a lot of time with Rosalita but that doesn't mean you know how to stake a vampire right the first time, and I'd rather you not end up dead."
"Then why don't you kill him?!" Ki shot back.
I just shrugged.
He was glaring at me now. "It's the blue eyes and the dark hair, isn't it? That's why you had sex with him and that's why you won't kill him. Apollo is - "
I was off the couch and had picked Ki up, putting my hand over his mouth before he could finish the sentence. Normally I was nice to Ki, but this was going too. Fucking. Far. "Stop," I whispered firmly.
It seemed like too much to handle, though, so I let go and headed back to my room.
"Dice, I didn't - !"
I slammed the door after myself before he could finish the sentence.

Was Apollo the one who broke up with her, and she wasn't over him? I didn't get why any guy would even think about breaking up with her, though.

"I'm alright," I decided with a nod. I was just slightly preoccupied with whether or not I should go to Meghan's funeral today. I wasn't sure I wanted to, but her family would probably expect me to, considering we'd been dating for a couple of years.

"Rosefalls battle?" I guessed with a frown. Nobody who lived there ever seemed to talk about that anymore. Most of the time, they didn't even talk about living there. I wasn't sure how you could just make a place not exist, but they were obviously doing a good job at it.

I nodded slightly, glad she was okay with me going. I wouldn't have gone if she didn't want me to anyways. She didn't say anything about her coming with me, so I decided it would be better not to ask. I jerked up when I heard a scream that cut silence across the lunchroom. "Alyssa?" I asked in surprise. "What's wrong?!"
"Make it go away!" she screamed, holding her head her hands.
"I'll go get the school nurse," Josie exclaimed frantically, then took off running.

"Sorry," I muttered, keeping my eyes on the floor. I hadn't lost anyone in the war, but that place was my home. I could be upset if I wanted to.

I looked up to Lyssa about the same time Isaiah, Jay, and Finn did, except I made the mistake of going into her mind to try and figure out what the hell was going on, and I clapped a hand over my mouth to hold back a scream while I jumped out as fast as I could. "Fuck that, I'll carry her to the nurse myself," I muttered, jumping off the table's bench and picking Lyssa up, carrying her bride-style through the halls.
Isaiah
I sat there for a few minutes, stunned as Harmony just picked Lyssa up and took off with her. Then I regained my senses and vaulted over the bench, dashing after her. Was Lyssa okay? What was wrong? Most importantly, who the fuck was doing this to her?
Kialish
I shrugged. "You could leave and make it better?" I asked hopefully, then shrugged yet again. "Or you could go in there and try to get Dice to feel better. Whichever," I mumbled. I had a feeling if I tried to go in there, she'd try to kill me or something.
